Thats not something that I have suffered from yet.

Until a couple of years ago I used to always be warm, to the extent of sweaty hands and feet. Over the past couple of years it just dramatically changed to freezing hands and feet. I now have raynauds to add to the ever growing list.

I dont think hot flushes are connected to PBC I have hot flushes and mine is because I am going through the change. But I do know some people who do suffer from over heating which can make the itch worse. Not everyone has the itch, but there are some medication out there that can help with the itch. Some pepole have said having a cool bath in bicarbinate of soda can help. Also a few people say when they go abroad to a hot country their itch goes but every body is different.

We haven't had "hot flushes" confirmed as part of PBC. As with many of these questions, we are looking to see what is coincidental, what is attributable to age, etc and what is genuinely linked to PBC.

PBC is a condition which affects the liver and its functionality. The liver has many functions within the body, one of which is the furnace/thermostat of the body. if someone's liver is not working at 100% efficacy, then it would be expected that any changes in temperature would not necessarily be dealt with well or immediately by the body.

This is a great question and we look forward to the answers.

Hi, I have been suffering from hot flushes for the past four years.I was diagnosed with PBC in 2008 and although I continuously stress to my consultant and GP about these hot flushes I am still non the wiser as to whether the two are related or if it is connected to the menopause.I go from feeling freezing cold and bombarding myself with extra jumpers to a hot flush in a matter of about ten seconds!!.It is driving me crazy.

I originally went to the doctor with flushes being one of my symtptoms. Hard to tell whether it is the PBC or the AIH I have or the fact that I am also in the early stages of the menopause! All very confusing. I am very lucky as I do not have the dreaded itch. Long may that continue. x

I used to have menopausal hot flushes but as my condition developed Im sure the flushes I get now are different and are associated with fatigue or overdoing things. Also re fibre an excellent form is soaked chiaseeds x 2 tbspin morning. Goodbye IBS!
