Hi there,I've been on urso for 2 years and haven't had any side effects at all. I believe some people put on weight on urso and it can also cause diarrhoea. The benefits are that it helps control your LFT's

Hi Lisa I have been taking urso since 31/12013, no side effects either.

Been on it for almost 12 years. Put on weight that I cant lose but thats a small price to pay to keeping mainly wellish. :-)

How much weight did you gain ?

I've been on urso since Dec 2010.

Initial side-effects I had for a few months were a bit of bloating and also heartburn. Continued taking urso due to the LFTs starting to decrease within 7wks of starting urso and the only problem I've had since taking urso is odd bouts of constipation that I never suffered prior to starting.

Seems that some of us do get constipation on urso, others diarrhoea.

I've never put on weight since starting urso, think that seems to be you either do or don't with urso.

My LFTs did start to increase after being on urso for 10mths but then decreased again at the 18mths mark. I have gone slightly up and then down again in the 2yrs of taking urso, my latest bloods last month were actually an improvement on the best LFTs so far and within what is considered a normal range for one with PBC as it isn't actually expected that a patient with PBC will ever have normal LFTs though some do..

I have read on this site that some patients diagnosed with PBC apparently haven't been given urso though it is the norm but I think it could probably be that their LFTs had been testing normal and I expect until one has an abnormal LFT they may not start on urso.

I`m in my 13th year of Urso. No side effects but I lost weight when I came off HRT.

Thanks Peridot, and all, Seems better than I thought. My LFT's were silly as I was being treated for latent TB. I had to come off that medication and now LFT's pretty settled now, high end of OK he said?? I would like to come off HRT too Oidra, just feel the fewer med's the better, but with Rheumatoid arthritis they say to stay on?? I see them next month so will double check. I came off my other Rheum meds just before diagnosis of PBC(sulphasalzine & ciltilopram) and actually feel better, was actually feeling overloaded? Don't see the gastro guy till June, but may ask the GP to see a liver specialist, who can be more clearer than the guy i have. Itching not too bad at the moment, does any one get blisters with their itch? Sickie and pains are my nuisance and like all the dreaded exhaustion. Lets all have a nice day, sunny here in London.:)

Hi I have been on urso for 11 months now and I can't take the dosage I was given because it bloats me out and i gain weight which is not good. I should take 500 mg twice per day but I have to take 250 mg every other day or I am so bloated my clothes don't fit. i am going to ask consultant if I can come off urso at next appointment.

xx conniefused

I do not have problems with urso, it has helped me. I know some people do but maybe its the dosage,

But I also changed my diet
