This is is usually how it works for me. I see my Gastro about every 6 months and get my blood tests done at the doctors a couple of weeks before hand and take the results with me. I renew my Urso through my doctor.

I am 72 , have known I have PBC for 12 years and am very fit and active. Very lucky I know.

So what you have been asked to do sounds very normal to me.

Best wishes.

Continued good health to you.

Hello karenlesley.

I was diagnosed with PBC Dec 2010 and started the urso on 2nd Dec. It was mid-Feb before I went back to see the gastro but the appt was in motion prob when the GP was about to receive my results and the gastro's letter informing GP to give me the disagnose and also give me the script for the urso.

My bloods just prior to diagnose were Oct 2010 and then it was mid-Feb betime I had repeats and I'd been on urso 2mths at the time. I think had I have had repeat bloods a bit later on, say a mth on from 2mths after starting urso, I would have got even better results than what I started on as come May 2011 I had pretty good results.

So I'd just keep on taking the urso (hope you're not having any temp side-effects like I did, bloating and heartburn for a few mths), then see what the bloods show. I know for me I didn't actually feel they were doing anything for about 6mths so don't be dismayed if that is how it is with yourself. For me it actually took a yr before I started to feel normal again. Even today almost 2yrs on with using urso, if I didn't have the itch I would feel 100% normal. I itchy most nights starting later on and by 5a.m. if I am awake (I rise at 6) it just vanishes.

I think all this time could be needed for one's liver to start feeling less of the strain due to more bile flow, hence we start to feel more normal.
