What Questions Do I need to Ask at my Second Consultant Appointment?AIH, PBC, HASHIMOTOS Overlap.

You need to find out what is driving your prognosis. My guess is that it will be the AIH. They can only treat PBC with Ursodeoxycholic Acid regardless of what stage you are at, but I don't know much about the Hashimotos part of it.They may want to do a liver biopsy to determine the stage and confirm the diagnosis.

Ask if you are AMA positive or AMA negative (diagnostic for PBC) and whether you are SMA positive or SMA negative (diagnostic for AIH). Again don't know anything about Hashimotos.

One interesting thing is that I also have an underactive thyroid as well as vitiligo. 4 autoimmune conditions in all. I am going to mention Hashimotos to my doctor the next time I see him though.
