The questions of exercise comes up frequently when someone has PBC. It is frequently suggested - and proven -that exercise does help with the fatigue.(it really does!)
There are 3 basic rules for exercise according to Dr. Jones' book The Definitive Guide for Patients Who Have Primary Biliary Cholangitis.
1. Exercise really helps your general health - i.e diabetes risk and cardiac health It is a good thing for anyone with PBC.
2. It doesn't matter what you do or how much you do - as long as you do something. If you have a 'less than perfect' workout/exercise program, what makes it the best for you is that you DO it. One of Dr. Jones' colleagues coined the phrase " movement is medicine '. How true! remember that.... 3 sessions/3 times a week is ideal but just move...
3. The final rule is that whatever you are doing now - 'do more'. Trying to increase what you're doing just by 10%. If you do only 5 minutes at a time, then do 5 1/2 minutes next time.
Be kind to yourself always. Just move! march in place, walk around your house....do something but try to be consistent. Try to make it part of your routine. Be realistic.
Just try! You can do it! (I struggle with this as well. I do go to my water aerobics twice a week. I'm trying to add 1 more class a week. We are all in this together.
