Why do you think so many of us still have a difficult time making time for ourselves?
Why is it so hard to just do something that takes care of just 'you'?

For me its in my genes. Like mother like daughter.
I used to say that too but at some point I felt I needed to change that cycle. Not taking care of ourselves leave us with that 'empty tank' leaving us often with nothing left to give to others - or at a price of exhausting ourselves. Self care, I believe, is not a term that my parents even ever heard of. Now it is a concept we hopefully we can all get involved in. We all deserve to be good to ourselves. We matter. I have no doubt that you feel that you are important.. we have many who love us and want us to be as as healthy mentally as well as physically. Just try to do one small thing for yourself this week...Let us know what you decided on.
For me it’s easy to get caught up in work and the day to day. But I did manage to read a book for pleasure recently, and I still play soccer once per week. That is a great outlet.
Good for you! If you play soccer, that truly would be an outlet for stress. I find myself reading more in the last 5 years or so than ever before. Seems calming to me before bed. Life can get in the way if we don't make time for us.
What book did you read? I'm always looking for suggestion. I f you like mysteries try Stranger by Harlan Coben. His Netflix series are really good too.
Thanks for the book tip! l like to read all genres. The book I read was The Premonition: A Pandemic Story by Michael Lewis. I read it as part of an informal book club with a few of my friends back from grad school (MPH program). It was really good and told the story of 5-6 individuals who behind the scenes were some of the heros during the Covid pandemic. Very much for the general audience. Michael Lewis also wrote Moneyball, if you're familiar with that book and movie.
One of my recent favorite just for fun books is Brit Marie Was Here by Fredrik Backman. Same author as A Man Called Ove (Otto for the film with Tom Hanks).
