thought that cirrhosis was stage 4. Someone told me that at stage three we have cirrhosis?

Is this true for us?

I understood it was at stage 4 and was further subdivided into 2 stages of compensated cirrhosis and 2 stages after that of decompensated cirrhosis. My husband is at stage 4 but F2 compensated and has remained so for a few years now. This is how it is in Canada; not sure if the scale is different elsewhere. Before stage 4, I believe there can be scarring and stiffness of the liver though. Ultimately, it is always best to ask your doctor for clarification.
