I have PBC but I also now have degenerative disc disease and the pain is ruining my life. Does prescribed cannabis affect the liver?

I have the same two problems. I don’t know about cannabis, but I do therapy at home twice daily and am doing okay. Yesterday I rode my bikt14 mikes. I work out 6 days a week, including time at a gym.

Your best course is to get a message to your liver specialist to ask the question in the meantime ask your GP for an appointment with the pain management clinic near to you. I guess you would need to talk to the specialist prescribing cannabis about risk to gain benefit.Perhaps a quicker way would be to join the PBC Foundation's Thursday Q&A 1400hours UK time through their Click meeting for privacy of on Facebook live and seek guidance from the specialist on live. It is possible to email the question to the Foundation in advance.

I cannot imagine the pain you suffer, I hope you find a solution.

A few years ago I did a bunch of research on this. There were some interesting studies that, unfortunately didn't answer your question. What I learned though, was fascinating. Apparently we PBC people have THC receptors in our livers, while most people do not. I have no idea if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Would love an answer to that.
