Cystitis : Hi can anyone recommend anything... - PBC Foundation
Cystitis
If it is recurrent you will probably need to get antibiotics from the GP. However natural remedies such as cranberry juice are often suggested as being helpful. Drink lots of water if you don't have cranberry juice and I believe I have read that an increase in vitamin C will help.
Try Bicarbonate of soda in water about a heaped teaspoon in a mug a couple of times I find it helps as it neutralises the acid, hot water bottle and a couple of paracetamol on occasion I have got the powder for cystitis from the chemist it’s a two day treatment 3 powders a day for 2 days. If you have blood in the urines which I always get I’d pop a sample up to your GP incase you have an infection. Good luck welcome to the UTI part of PBC
Hope you get the cystitis sorted... Did you contact your doctor? Xx love traci
Drink plenty of water! Pour large pitcher with water throughout the day (Leave on worktop to remind you). Online remedy helps: Treatment for cystitis
Drink plenty of liquids.Take a commercial urinary alkaliser (ask your pharmacist for advice) OR one teaspoon of baking soda (bicarbonate of soda) in water.Avoid acidic foods or drinks as they cancel out the effect of urinary alkalisers and can aggravate the burning when passing urine.
Hope the helps!
I used to suffer badly, but when I stopped using bars of soap and moved to liquid soap or shower gel, it stopped. Could be a coincidence but maybe not ....
having had a seriously bad case due to antibiotics and literally crying at night my husband suggested sudocreme , it was a life saver ! good luck and hope you feel better soon
I use a product called Ellura. It works really well. You can order it online. It is expensive, but it works. I don't use it every day like the bottle recommends & I have not had a problem. Used to get Cystitis all the time. As others suggested, drink lots of water. As with any supplements or meds people recommend on this site, please check with your doctor first. Good luck.
