Fats, and spicey foods if I remember right. They can make a sick Gallbladder more painful. Even after the surgery. Keep it bland for a while.

Lol....no, no, no...they'll tell ya. After about 2 weeks give or take, you can eat pretty much what you did before. Some people do have problems with lettuce, others dairy, others fats. You'll have to try foods out after that grace period of about 2 weeks approx. Make sure you ask them too. My surgery was in 2011, maybe there are new rules. You'll do great!

Oh.. and if they are removing it laparoscopy....WONDERFUL!! The recovery is so much faster. Your gonna do great Jenny. Mine was open surgery cause my gallbladder was so sick. Took me about a 6 weeks or so recover. Laparoscopy you'll be great in a few weeks.

I am in the hospital and the after a a few test the hospital dr wants to remove my gallbladder. I had one very bad upper stomach ache and some test. Is that enough to remove my gal bladder?

Jenny, if you aren't comfortable with what they're telling you, talk to some one else there. There must be someone, ask for a surgery councilor, or talk with your nurse there in charge of caring for you.
Just know gallbladder surgery is pretty common. Nausea, stomach pain, stomach aches, upper back pain and general yuck feeling, even fever sometimes are some of the symptoms associated with gallbladder problems. Get your questions answered so you can feel comfortable with your surgery.

Just tell your nurse what you want. She should let your doctor know. Hopefully you can get some rest tonight. ❤❤

I agree with ktltel, try and speak to someone this morning. Mine was open surgery cos it was in 1985!!! You will have a speedier recovery with key hole. Just make sure you speak to your nurse or someone who is looking after you so that you feel more comfortable with what's going on . Love and hugs from Lynne ❤️ xxxc

I too am having gallbladder issues, I think. I had and ultrasound on Friday. Waiting for those results . Having an upper GI Scoping on Wednesday. May i ask what your symptoms were prior to your gallbladder removal? It seems, from following the PBC Foundation, that alot of people have gallbladder issues. Add it to the list..... Hope your doing well and I always appreciate reading your informative and kind responses.

Hello and thank you for your kind words.
I would have upper right quadrant pain/ache. And major upper mid back ache. A full/bloated feeling too along with nausea. It happened mostly after I ate Mexican food.
Thank you. Same for me but also burping and indigestion. It has been going on for two weeks straight with no relief. So I’ll be happy to get the results and see what’s really going on. Thank you so much for all your help.

I have the same for two weeks. Although not very sharp pain. Its a dull pain for me.

The ct scan showed an inflamed gal bladder at the emergency room.
My symptoms was all under my ribs upper tummy was going to blow up. The pain was so bad that my back hurt. It was awful. I would of had to call an ambulance if my husband wasn’t home. The other test showed that my gallbladder was fine. We don’t know what the pain was from. Or at least I wasn’t told. But the iv meds helped and I was able to sleep for once. I am always up all night.
Sounds very similar to mine. I’ll be anxious to see what my test results reveal. Please keep us updated and wishing you the very best.

I had mine out July last year, I couldn’t tolerate fatty foods for a while, burgers, pizza, chocolate those kind of things, they made me ill. However, after a couple of months it settled down & now I can eat most things. I just stay away from fried greasy foods. Hope this helps!
Hey all...They have found sludge in my gallbladder before. I’m hoping my gallbladder is OK now. If I ever had to get my gallbladder removed does this not allow you to be eligible for a transplant, if I ever needed one!?
My husband called my transplant team and told him that during transplant they remove your gallbladder. I’m keeping mine. After the surgeon got my medical history and I talked to the nurse we decided not to do it. God only knows what that pain was. It was god awful and I hope to never have it again. It felt like my upper stomach was going to blow up
I had that before ....year and a half ago and it actually turned out to be diverticulitis. Was so painful and so annoying!!!!

I would stay away from fried foods, ground hamburg, and tomato based sauces, you'll learn what you can and can't eat the hard way, but everybody is different.. if you've been having symptoms you probably already know what you couldn't eat, that won't change.. good luck with your surgery..
Did they do a Hidascan by any chance, that will tell if your gall bladder is functioning properly...
Yes the dr did the hidascan. It was the mri the third day that and me saying no. I’m glad that I didn’t do it. I feel fine now. Thank you all for your support. Seems like the mri didn’t come back the way that I thought it would.
