Are there any vegans out there? Can you tell me if your blood tests have been affected? Also cholesterol and blood pressure? I have PBC and I'm very interested in hearing from you - big hug to you all. kandiepat

I am a vegetarian. First abnormal blood test 13 years ago and diagnosed 9 years ago. I have never suffered from the itch and my blood levels are getting back to normal. I am just approaching 65 and still working 2 days a week and carer for my youngest granddaughter 2 days a week. I seem to have as much energy as most women my age and I put it down to not eating meat. Take care x

I'm vegan. And it has reduced my cholesterol and as I have gallbladder problems my consultant says that a non vegan diet would have made it worse. I've been a vegan for over 11 years for ethical reasons and there is a lot of vegan food available these days.

I became a vegetarian in January. My bloodwork in December was a mess. alk phos was in high 280's, ALT was 80 something, AST was also 80 something (i dont have exact figures in front of me). Was going to do Seladelpar study and went and had bloodwork done this month. My numbers cut in half! My Alk phos is now like 175, ALT AND AST one is right at 50 the other at 49! Organic fruits and veggies DO heal the gut and is less stress on the liver to process! I am living proof. My numbers are where they were 6 years ago at diagnosis!! Get off the meat and dairy if you can. It will never hurt you to try it!

I'm vegetarian for ethical reasons for over 40 years. I was diagnosed 2007 (probably had PBC for 15 years prior). Have had "the itch" maybe 5 times in the past year but it hasn't been an issue and I don't take anything for it. (I'm on URSO and Ocaliva). I didn't get itchy when I started either URSO or Ocaliva. I have a lot of empathy for those who have it.
