Hi there, I've been suffering from anxiety of late. In looking for help with this I came across Lavender Kalms. I thought I would give these a try and so asked my gastroenterologist if I could take them at a recent appointment. He said yes - problem is the on line product information says no if you have or have ever had liver problems. What to do??? Who should I trust? Has anyone tried these on the advice of GP or Consultant?

Thank you Ballymahon 2. I too try to steer clear of all meds usually, just exploring all options at the moment.

Milo2... my dr allows me to take Xanax for anxiety. I only take if I absolutely need it. It is a last resort for me but it calms me. I wish you well. 😊

Thanks for that, I will bear in mind if I have to go down the route of medication.

Hi Milo2

sorry to read that you are having problems with anxiety. My first thought was that if lavender kalms are from lavender then it may be possible to feel calmed by having lavender around you such as the lavender pillow however I had a quick look at the packet and it says that it contains valerian. You may like to look at the link at the bottom of this post which may help you with your decision. Alternatively you may like to try the recordings on You Tube for anxiety, I tried these for sleep issues and found the calming voice guidance for meditation, relaxation and sleep guidance most effective.

One assumes the gastro specialist would know more and that the company would be covering themselves against being sued however it is good to take a second look at it.

Thank you. I will indeed have a look at that link. I agree that the gastroenterologist should know more than the company who make them...just needed another thought perspective.

Hi Milo2, I absolutely agree with butterflyEi. Try carrying lavender in little bags and scrunch to reactivate the oils whenever you need. Put near enough your face that you notice the aroma, and breath for several minutes at least whilst meditating or using mindfulness - whatever helps you. I don't experience anxiety but I struggle with insomnia, and I keep several bags around my pillow. I can't be certain it's not placebo effect but I find it soothing.

Best wishes

I sometimes wake up feeling anxious and turned straight away to lavender oil which I keep by my bed. It seems to do the trick. I should use it more often. Didn’t realise anxiety was yet another side effect of PBC it’s just never ending each day something else crops up to add to the condition. Feeling a bit low at the moment so another reason to get the lavender oil out. Fed up with eating healthily not drinking alcohol and bloods not improving.

Thanks for that! I dont think anxiety is so much a side effect of PBC, rather a Perimenapausal issue! Yes dealing with that on top of the PBC - testing times indeed. Sorry to hear you are a bit low at the moment - hope a new week brings you lots of love and laughter to lift you!

Try putting a drop of lavender essential oil on your hand and rub together. When anxious snd just putting hands near face and inhale while you practice relaxation breathing. Be careful to wash hands as you don’t want oil in your eyes. Also put a drop of oil on a tissue works. Keep it with you all day and use to breath in the aroma.

I have had panic attacks. Try using oil lavender. Just put very little on your clothes. Garden of life. Or Truth. It does help.
