You’re welcome. Of course I have a special interest since that’s all I take. I think just a few here take it. 😊

Thanks! Hopefully OCA will work for me. My dr just increase from 5 to 10 mg

Prettyeyes79...5 mg didn’t work well for you?

No, numbers aren’t showing what the dr wants it to be. Now I’m waiting on insurance to approve for 10mg but I don’t know how long that will take .

Thank you! As you might remember i was reluctant to start Ocaliva and finally started it in NOvember 2017 and it has had a huge positive impact.

Ottley3...I’m guessing Ocaliva brought your numbers down to a good place?

My niumbers are still outside the range but have improved dramatically on the ocaliva. Cholesterol up though

Ottley3...I’m glad to hear that. I had high cholesterol long before PBC but when I had to stop statin, cholesterol went back up. And i feel ocaliva has something to do with it possibly, especially the hdl. So I’m back on low dose statin. I researched the lipid journal & they tested simvastatin & I think prevastatin with no harmful effects on the liver.

Ottley3...that research was done with Urso & simvastatin. Not sure about Ocaliva.

I think that a common side effect of ocaliva is higher cholesterol because whatever magic it is doing in our liver to slow the progression of pbc also inhibits the liver’s ability to process cholesterol. I do think that if it continues to rise it can be controlled with medication. Thanks!

Lol! We hope it’s working magic. We’ll be fine. Your welcome 😊
