Why not ask the 'PBC Foundation' who host this site on Health Unlocked? There is a link to their website at the top of this page, where you will find phone and email details. Their advisors are lovely.

I don't know mush about the world-wide picture of PBC treatment. I know that great advances seem to be made in the condition's responses, and thus into drug development by the research teams in Alberta, but I don't know if they are renowned for treatment. I also don't know if anyone has a worldwide picture - it may depend on where you are and how far you are willing to travel.

In the UK, we have several leading experts at various different sites around the country. Based on my own experience I would recommend seeing one of the leading specialists in your own country, but I know my pockets would not stretch to seeing the best one in the world, therefore I've never researched it.

I hope you get the answers you want, but do try the 'PBC F'.

Where do you live? US or the UK or somewhere else? If there is a good hepatologist (liver doctor) near you I would start there . The larger the medical facility the more patients they see of course like a medical university where I go here in Michigan for care, I go there because it's 10 minutes from my house and they have a good team of liver doctors and a transplant clinic if I need a liver transplant later.

I live in the North East of the UK. And would say Prof D Jones's team at the Cresta Clinic, in Newcastle is one of the best teams. Thanks

Hey guys, just wanted to update you on my liver biopsy. 4 months ago i had a routine blood test done and it showed slightly elevated ALP and GGT. Checked with the hepathologist and US found nothing but early signs of fatty liver. Then i got blood work performed again plus other additional tests. AMA was positive at 1:40, and this time also bilirubin, mostly indirect. He suggested a liver biopsy which show NO PBC or antibodies. But it showed NASH score 2, treated with diet, exercise, vitamin e and other medication that helps me loose weight. He says theres nothing to worry about since there is no PBC, and my biliary ducts showed just fine. He attributes antiboidies to possible related dermatitis desease which ive had since i can remember. He says this NASH level is totally reversible with a healthy lifestyle. So i think is good news. Hope all of you are doing well. After mant bilirubin tests and past historical blood tests he thinks thats Gilberts. Best
