Turmeric

Who uses turmeric to help ?? Anyone have any success with it (I'm thinking of using it to help with the inflammation with AI Hepatitis)

Hi. I was diagnosed with PBC in July and saw a naturopath a couple of months later as I was concerned that this was my 3rd autoimmune condition and that no medical people had any idea - or even interest - in why I was getting them or if further AI conditions could be prevented. The naturopath put me on turmeric and a couple of herbs like milk thistle and ginger that are supposedly good for liver health and strengthening of the immune system.

I've since read that there appears to be no proven positive impact of any of these products on PBC. I certainly don't feel any better taking them, my fatigue is no less, but is that a good indicator? I'm hoping to prevent other AI conditions from developing but how would one ever know if the turmeric/herbs helped or not? To me, it's all very vague and unsubstantiated and I'm unsure which of these products - if any - to continue to take. They're not cheap and if we decide to take them for life then potentially (hopefully) that's many years.

I'd be interested in people's opinions about this, too.

Thanks so much for your response - good to know !! I'm sorry to hear about the three AI diseases (I have 2 and I worry about getting others too)
