On the itching,....

Hi there everyone. I was diagnosed with PBC 18 years ago through a random blood test. Was quite surprised to say the least. I had no symptoms. That's when i was 45yrs old. I was offered the URSO, but wanted to wait till i was showing symptoms first.

After all those years in the care of a liver specialist, and being symptom free with regular blood tests every 6 months, i was discharged into the care of my GP. The liver specialist, upon discharging me from his care told me that as i had been symptom free for so many years, that i would probably live a normal life with few if any problems. He said that PBC is looking to be downgraded to a lesser description, because it's the most benign liver condition.

However, after only 2 years in the care of my GP, i am now experiencing some itching, and wondering if it's PBC related or not, and so decided to join you guys to try to find out.

What i am only just beginning very vaguely to experience is little needle like pricks, rather than something that wants to be scratched, and it's on various parts of the body, including face, hands, and it's only very rarely,.. from time to time.

It's felt more when i'm lying down actually, or still for long periods.

Any ideas anyone?

Also, recently i have had bouts of digestive problems, mainly wind/gas, bloating, tummy pain etc,... and wondering if that's liver related in PBC.

Thanks. Eliana.

Do get checked out and ask for another liver function test see how it is in relation to last one. Then ask to be referred back again to specialist if there are changes so they can check it out. Otherwise you will always wonder and if it is accelerating then you can be prescribed Urso to slow things down but at least you will be monitored.

Hope all goes well.
