Can you have a itchy scalp with PBC?

When the itching is going mad I get it on my head and palms of hands.

I started itching early 2010 and by December that year I was diagnosed with PBC. For me the itch persisted but over time and taking urso it has altered and I tend to get it later at night these days.

I can itch almost any place on my body. It seems to vary at certain times. Yes I do occasionally feel a bit itchy on my head but given I can itch any place even personal areas it is of no surprise given it is supposed to be caused by used bile in the bloodstream that of course runs throughout the body.

My itching is like yours and when I do itch in the private parts I use vagisil which does help relieve it as such a delicate area.

Hi 26smith, I itch on my scalp as well as the rest of my body, I use head and shoulders itchy scalp not sure if it actually helps or I just think it does! X

Hi 26smith, I started with itchy scalp but my dr said it was my shampoo and to change it but after speaking to liver specialist it's all connected with pbc, I'm taking citirazine it helped at first but now it's a lot worse so I'm seeing GP again hopefully I will get something better.

I had itchy scalp and I thought it was from PBC, but my dermatologist said nope! She prescribed me a prescription shampoo and the itch has been gone. So yes, you can have itchy scalp from PBC, unfortunately. But, its good to rule out any other causes as well.
