pain in rib cage

hi all today has been very painful for me i woke this morning doubled up in pain around my back and front inside my rib cage i dont know what it is or if its related to pbc it hurts worse when i inhale has anyone else had this plz still up at 2.30 in morning it is worse if i lay down xx

Does eating make it worse? It sounds similar to the symptoms I had with Costochondritis and eating didn't have any effect on it. Is the pain more localized by where the ribs connect to the sternum? I guess Pleurisy can also more painful when breathing.

I had similar pains myself due to excessive gall stones which my consultant said was related to pbc and I was fitted with a stent, I still get the occasional stitch/cramp like pain but nowhere as painful.

Hi Sophie, I get a pain like a bad cramp in the front and side inside my rib cage, I asked my GP and he said to him it seems like a pulled muscle, I am not happy with this and am going to ask my useless gastro. I also thought Pleurisy as well like Jean as it hurts like hell when I get it and i can't take a deep breath as it hurts too much, in fact it happened in my gp surgery last time i went and i could not get up off the bed, he did look concerned as every time he tried to help me up it went into like a spasm again but still said pulled muscle, but i had not done anything to pull a muscle. to me it felt like my right lung was getting squashed and it BLinking well hurts.

I had the same symptoms and it was pancreatitis.
