Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone with PBC experienced pain under right rib as a symptom when diagnosed?
Or can you please list your initial symptoms that you noticed when first diagnosed?
I do have slight discomfort there every now and then but it was after I was diagnosed that I noticed it. Not sure what it is...hepatologist does not know either. He thinks maybe I pulled a muscle or something.
Thank you. I was reading some really old posts and there were quite a few people who also experience rib and shoulder pain.
Diagnosed in 2011 , my only symptom is a sharp pain, as if someone has stabbed me with a knife under my right rib but it only happens as I eat. Doc thought it was my gallbladder and sent me for an ultra sound and blood test.......diagnosed with PBC
Yes It feels like little stabs to me too. Hard to explain but if like just the very tip of the knife was poking you. Also sometimes more of a dull short aching feeling.
HiYes,I experience pain upper right area and up the back . It should also be noted though that stomach issues can cause similar pain. I saw that you suffer from GERD which can cause this. You don’t state what your lfts are which is a huge factor in diagnosis of PBC.
lupus can cause all sorts of issues as you will be aware of .
Take care x
Yes I do have GERD but it has never been bad. Controlled with just Tums usually and the occasional Omeprazole. This ache that I’m feeling doesn’t happen after I eat or because of what I eat. It’s different. My LFTs were mildly raised on 4/1 just ast, alt, alp and I just took a blood test yesterday to see if any change. I have ultrasound on Wednesday. Colonoscopy and endoscopy on May 10. Then we decide the next step from there.
I get that pain too. It's where my gallbladder USED to be. Blood test for routine physical showed liver tests slowly creeping up. The only symptoms I noticed was being flushed... a lot, like my blood was too warm running through my veins. Also, I got really really tan last year...going in for MRE Wednesday. My ALP and AST are still creeping up...but not my ALT? 3 months on URSO, but no side effects from it. 😁
