Hi Mags,

Sorry I can't help much with that one.

I suggest you contact the PBC Foundation, there is a link to their site at the top of the page. You can talk to their advisors on the phone, and look at all their guides to the condition. Don't look at other online stuff, much is out of date.

It might help if you have all your results with you to read to them.

Take care and try no to worry.

As far as I know mags_larkhall the ALP as what I think you mean by alkaline tends to be raised in PBC.

White cells that are raised can mean that at the time you are fighting an infection but there are other reasons that I cannot explain as I am not a medic and don't know. Out of interest I was diagnosed with PBC Dec 2010 and so far my white blood count has always been a bit lower than normal but no-one has ever said anything.

Some of our blood reading are classed as normal even when they aren't strictly so once we have a diagnosis of PBC. My LFTs (liver function test) and GGT are still abnormal but I have been informed that they are currently OK.

I know in the past 4yrs since I have been taking urso and having repeat bloods if there is something on the print-out I battle to get each time I have bloods done that I think I need to query or ask to be explained I will ask the GP.

I know for several yrs I did have a 1 below normal of the HB count and one GP thought I might have some blood loss. I was adamant at the time that it could be normal as you can have a slightly lower count of the HBs and being female can make it so, the body adjusts. I stuck by my guns and at the time said I was not going to go in for any exploratory cameras as I thought it might be due to nose bleeds that I kept having on and off. I did attend ENT several occasions for a pinprick nose graze and my last 2 bloods have come back showing a perfectly normal HB count so it might have been that as I did experience nose bleeds for a few years prior to PBC diagnosis too.

Also if a blood result is not what a doctor deems normal often you can be requested to have additional bloods done. Late 2013 I had one and was asked to go back in for Vit B, folate and also ferritin counts. Was found to have a slightly lower ferritin count and had a short course of iron. Been fine ever since.
