I used to go to school in Grays. We bussed in via South Ockendon and when it snowed the bus could not get up the big hill. There was a bakery and if the bus was early we would jump off and buy a bag of hot doughnuts, I think there were probably about 7 or 8 of us doing that journey. Thank you for this quick trip down memory lane, I have a smile on my face even though I hated school. Such a long time ago now!

best wishes

Hello 0137kaz45.

I have had penfriends for 25 years now and one of my early correspondents lives in Grays. We finally met up back in 2009 and then again in 2010. This lady is old enough to be my mother but we have struck up a very good friendship over the years. Even my husband who I finally met up with in 2008 (yes he was through penfriend writing when he was overseas in the army), he has met my Grays lady.

Coincidentally after my husband and I married in 2009, we went to one of his ex-army pal's baby's christening and this pal's dad was born and raised in Grays. It can be a small world....
