She also had an HVPG test with HVPG-13.5 mm of HG. My doctor is keeping us in darkness about the the whole damage %age and treatment. This has led to confusion about the whole problem. Can u please guide us in the right direction and please donot lie about the bad results. Thanx in advance
Recently my mother underwent Firboscan test... - PBC Foundation
Recently my mother underwent Firboscan test, she has median - 41.2 , IQR - 10.1, IQR % age - 24%.Can u tell me the level of liver damage.
Sorry zaraki.
This is quite beyond me. I am in the UK and all I seemed to get back in 2010 the year I was diagnosed with PBC was this test was 'abnormal', this one was 'low', 'positive', etc and no figures. I did ask for the print-out of the bloods I was having (the liver function test, full blood count) due to wanting to know what was what and I have been receiving ever since.
I find the only way to get answers you require is to ask outright what such-and-such means when it is mentioned. Some doctors can skirt round the issue and say things that bit gentler so as not to alarm a patient but if a patient asks exactly what the doctor is referring then usually you would find out.
I am one who likes to know simply because I have experienced in the past (not with myself) that sometimes a doctor can read something wrong or even get it wrong.
I've not had a fibroscan, they seem to be quite rare at present in the UK under the NHS but I expect at some point in future they will appear in most hospitals.
thanks for sharing your experience....I have got it all sorted out, it seems that it is the starting phase of cirhossis.
