intrinsic factor and and peretial cel... - Pernicious Anaemi...
intrinsic factor and and peretial cell tests negative symptoms still persist is this possible
Yes..neither tests are conclusive for diagnosis if negative..only IF antibody test is conclusive for PA....other bloodtest results count and symptoms count as much as bloodtest results...see:
patient.co.uk/doctor/Pernic...
"Autoantibody screen: intrinsic factor antibodies, if present, are virtually diagnostic of pernicious anaemia. However, they are absent in 50% of patients with pernicious anaemia. Gastric parietal-cell antibodies are present in 85% of people with pernicious anaemia but are also found in 3-10% of people who do not have pernicious anaemia."
All in my family (4) on B12 treatment tested negative for intrinsic factor antibodies and parietal-cell antibodies..but there is no doubt we have a problem with containing B12.
Kind regards,

I've had this test done, Pettals - I seem to have plenty of Active B12. Yet I have so many symptoms which seem to indicate a deficiency. Just don't know what's wrong with me... GP not interested, tells me I'm "focusing on things"! Sure she thinks I've 'cut 'n pasted' my symptoms off the internet! Said my Vitamin D is slightly low (it isn't) and some people say taking a supplement makes them feel better, so why don't I try that. Sheesh!! Well, if I'm gonna take a placebo, it needs to be one I have some faith in. So I've been on Amazon and got myself some B12 patches to try. Clutching at straws, I know, but I just don't know what else to do.
