Just wondering what your thoughts are on these levels please because I haven’t resumed B12 complex and wonder whether I need to
Thanks

Hi NoelNoel
your vitamin D is too low in my view - I aim to keep mine around 100-180ng/L on advice from B12 specialist and a functional nutritionist.
Active B12 is ok but without the range it’s hard to tell and it more relevant in my view is whether your cofactors are sufficiently optimal to allow the B12 to be utilised.
What are your iron levels?
Folate looks ok assuming you can metabolise it. You can find out by trial and error with methylfolate or by a genetic test .
How do you feel? Are your b12 deficiency symptoms improving? How often do you take B12 directly?

dot and thank you
Have resumed D to nudge it up a bit. Will reduce dose to a maintenance dose once it gets to 100. Ferritin is excellent
As for how I feel. I have Hashi which I manage with Metavive and I feel well
The reason I’ve posted is, the last time I stopped B12 complex my BP rose from about 120//70 ish to 180-220/80-85 and this time the same has happened although it hast reached the dizzy heights of last time. I’m not feeling any ill-effects such as the horrible headaches I got last time but wonder why this would happen and will consider reintroducing a complex once I see what my levels have done after next weeks test
Hi Noelnoel
Interesting about BP and high BP is not good - have similar issues with my mother and hubby (Hashimoto too) who both experience too high BPs but not all the time which is problematic as blood pressure regulation medication causes BP to go too low in my mother in particular.
That's a big change in your BP though isn't it? It would be interesting to look at the constituent parts of the B12 complex as clearly something in there is beneficial to your BP.
Be interesting to see what your levels are after the test as you say.
Glad you are not having horrible headaches!

I agree but perhaps it’s a case of needing all the Bs. Maybe one day I’ll start a process of elimination but if my next test shows levels have dropped I’ll just resume a complex until such time as I have the inclination and time to start the process
Will also be looking into slowly reducing Adrenavive because I have this sneaking suspicion that it has a hand in this situation …
With regard to hubby and mother, ever thought about magnesium. It definitely helps and btw, how’s hubby getting on with his Hashi journey. Wasn’t it Dr Klein who suggested it
Wow Noelnoel
What a memory you have! Yes Dr K spotted it, GP refused to acknowledge it even though hubs was clearly unwell, consulted a private Thyroid GP, he’s feeling better but going through the ups and downs of fine tuning medication dose. New GP is taking an interest and agreed to test bloods … early days.
I am on magnesium but not mum and hubs - perhaps I should include them!
I love your diagnostic and forensic approach to your treatment … Will wait with great interest when you share your sneaking suspicions!!

The fine-tuning aspect can be tricky

Hi NoelNoel
Brilliant link which led me to other research in particular on statins and the dubious premise of a link of high cholesterol and heart disease - thank you as this digression appears to have confirmed something I have had a sneaking suspicion about too!
