I have just now completed a second full month of self injecting cyanocobalamin twice a week and feeling much better. Many symptoms have receded. No more brain fog and severe fatigue. However there is still tiredness especially in the morning and some days during the week. My question is; is two months of twice a week to soon to evaluate conditions fully? I know what a normal level of energy is and I am not there yet.
I heard Sally Pacholock say during a zoom meeting that she uses hydroxocobalamin. I have also read on this forum that some use methylcobalamin and it has really made a difference.
If I change cobalamins where can I gain access to these other two? Ms Pacholoch is highly regarded and her experience should not go unnoticed. Should I be considering a change?

I don't think anyone with B12D ever gets 100% better. I feel really well now, almost all my symptoms are gone, but I stll have times when I feel tired and have to have naps.
I think it does depend on how long you remained deficient before you received the correct treatment , and also the fact that we are all different . Really pleased to hear that you havd made a good recovery .
It’s a good idea to experiment with the different cobalamins. I’m in U.K. where Hydroxocobalamin is used . I tried Methylcobalamin for several months and found no difference .But we are all different . so yes if I were you I would try out other cobalamins
If you were long-term deficient in B12 then it's more than just anaemia; your gut would have become deficient too, as well as your nervous system. Your bone marrow would have recovered within days; your gut would too, as these systems have a rapid turnover of cells. Your nervous system however takes much, much longer, so it can take a very long time to get better, but you're on the right road.
Keep at it, and keep us informed! Well done getting this far.
I am in Canada and I use cyanocobalamin as I can buy it over the counter without a prescription. I have read studies that indicate it is excreted faster. I inject once per week as a maintenance dose as the symptoms come back in about 3 weeks. Everybody is different in terms of how much they need. It is good to experiment to find out how much you need. You could try injecting every other day for awhile to see if that helps. That is the recommended schedule for people who still have symptoms. Then when completely better, search for your maintenance dose. It might also be wise to look at your sleep quality. A fitbit can give you information about sleep quality. An at home test for sleep apnea could be wise if you might have problems with that. I can't say if the other kinds are better or not. I would need a prescription for the other ones and they are more expensive and harder to get.
