Hello, does anyone on here inject their own folate for deficiency? I’m thinking of doing this and would appreciate any help or new knowledge. Many thanks ☺️ 🙏🏻

It’s not a traditional way to get your folate / folic acid / vitaminB9 . I have seen ampoules of folic acid on the German online pharmacies , but it is FOLIC ACID and not Folate which you say is what you want to inject. I would have thought that injections are only necessary if you are extremely deficient .

Have you thought of supplementing with METHYLFOLATE instead ? . This is supposed to be closer to natural folate than folic acid . I’ve not used it, just read about it .

Sorry that I can’t be more helpful .

I have half distal and no terminal ileum, which is where B9 is absorbed and yes I am chronically low/deficient. I’ve had to IM B12 for years and was not told that surgery could reduce my ability to absorb B9 and it’s slightly annoying that I haven’t been offered regular blood screams. I’m very poorly so just want to reduce my deficiency and symptoms as fast as I can. I get my B12 from Germany but it takes couple of weeks to get here. I’ve found an UK aesthetics company today that has folic acid vials and they’ve done me a reasonable deal for 300 doses 5mg daily in vials and thrown in some IM injection equipment, with next day delivery so I am sorted for now and will explore the German pharmacy after I’ve done an initial 4 month course and had a second blood screen. Thank you for your advice and help. It’s always good to know that there are others out there self administering and aligned knowledge. ☺️👍🙏🏻

I’m so sorry I didn’t realise that you had such a handicap with absorbing B9 . That the doctors didn’t inform you about what could and would happen as a result of surgery, is truly shocking . B12 and B9 work together , so yes vitally important for you to get it . Now I can understand why you need injections of B9 . Great that you have obtained a good quantity of B9 ampoules . But you must take care and not overdose .5mg is a large dose —B9 can be overdosed , but B12 can’t .

Wishing you success with the Injections .

If and when you need more injectable folic acid . It can be obtained ( no prescription needed) from certain German online pharmacies.

I’ve used the folic acid vials from Germany and it helped raise my levels. I would recommend it if your levels are low. I had no side effects

I will explore the German pharmacy when this lot runs out and I’ve had a second screen. I’m really poorly and just wanted to treat myself quickly. 😁😁
