I believe they do! I couldn't understand what was wrong with me, ate a good diet and healthy food etc. It wasn't until I had a blood test that showed my folate was nearly three times higher than it should of been. That was without supplementing. Health bars etc. I felt awful my eye sight was bad and had a lot of problems with muscles etc.

I have cut out health bars wheetabix etc . And just rely on veg.

I would not recommend having folate tablets unless diagnosed with deficiency, but that is my opinion only and each person have to keep a diary and see what works for them !

Hope you find a solution to your problems, best to try without supplements for a while and see how you go.

If no improvements then you can always revert back.

Yes I don't take folic acid on its own but a multivit I take only 3 x a week has 200mcg in.Not alot.

My actual level on recent bloods wasn't given.

Can't remember measure used but top figure 20 and just says above range.

Donr have it checked very often ax done with b12 !!!

Only one been above range before but that was 3 years ago when taking loafs of things as so ill.

One thing i can absorb!!

Must be allotment veg.

Just thought it may be juice j have to help digestion at meals??

Years of blissfully being unaware of what's going on and well!

Thanks

I don't eat healthy bars

Will look at my porridge bag. As only cereal I have

And cut out dried apricots .

Strange isn't it what we can sbd cannot absorb from food

Thanks for reply

I am prescribed folic acid and my levels are sky high but my Dr hasn't adjusted my dose. I adjusted it myself and dropped it down to one instead of two.

Porridge and dried apricots sounds nice. I like a bit of porridge in the morning but it has to be gluten free. 😋

My vit D was low which surprised me seeing as it is prescribed me ! My Dr didn't act on it so I increased it myself.........I seem to be doing a lot of things myself these days.

Ditto. My vit D dropped as well . Just under range. I take daily vit.D

Was 1000ih fir years but have increased it to 2000

Still not enough it Seems

Juggling act

Have to book a telephone appt. When gp partner back.

Ref. Ongoing saga

So if he actually will speak to me will ask for loading vt d

And ask for advice!!

Main thing is get b12 regime sanctioned and notes corrected!!

Childbearing aged women are advised to take 400 mcg folic acid daily.

I'm amazed that blood results come back with

Irregularities but nobodh follows it uo unless chased.

I don't think it's the receptionists job yo say everything is okay ???and shouldn't be put in that position

Annoying doesn't give figure as nay be 1 over range

B12 above 1500

As done with folate

Didn't know being done.

At leastcwith paper blood forms yiu csn see.

My practice Seems to use electronic or paper??

It wont be long befor the *loody receptionists diagnose us they seem to be doing a lot of the reporting these days !

I have to take three vit D a day for my hypoparathyroidism and yet it was still reported at the bottom of the range ! My Gp didn't even act on it which made me annoyed - do I have to become hypocalcemic before they take action ? Even my endocrinologist didn't act upon it so he will get a flea in his ear when I see him.

Surgery rang me yesterday about my letters I emailed to both Dr and the manager - of cause they got the messenger boy to ring neither the Dr or manager has rang as yet.

No point in doing tests if they dont act upon them.

You are all missing the point. There is a new system in place, where they want you to go private. I had an accident in Dec20201, injuring my arm, head, neck and knee. The doctor at A& E was not interested, just gave me a box of painkillers and put me out. I got annoyed, so phoned my so called doctor, to check me out. he made me an appointment for xrays on my knee and neck. It was at a private american hospital, despite there being 2 large hospitals in my borough. 2 days later, a different doctor phoned me, and said that there was nothing wrong with my knee, but my neck had Degeneration bones, which I said was Bu.. s..t. So I phoned again, for the original doctor, but got a different one, and she said that she will make me an appointment with a Physio. A week later, 25/02/22, I got a text with an attached letter, telling me that they will phone me on the 03/03/22 @ 1.02pm, but if they dont, then phone them. It never happened, so I tried to phone them, but I was always 3 to 5th in the queue.

Eventually got through around the 7/3/22, but was told that they did not have a space, so will phone me when they do. Got a call today, 17/03/22, said that i will receive a call on the 13/04/22 @ 18.10 pm, but it will only be to discuss weather I need an appointment. The office for the contractor, was in Newcastle ?

It seems to be a new system in place, but, make your own minds up.

This is a different subject to what I were discussing but I totally agree with what your saying.

You can spend hours on the phone getting nowhere these days, the 111 system is a nightmare. If refered to a consultant you have to phone up with your code then ring back so many days later to see if your appt has been confirmed !

The NHS has gone mad.

Hello Jillymo, thank you for your response. I agree that it is different, but your reactions prompted my response. I suggest that you read the 1st 2 lines again, as it has not gone mad, but changed on purpose, thus my recent experience.have a good weekend.
