Injection mrthod question.

Hello everyone. Currently have. A nurse practitioner who has ordered 5000mcg methyl cobalamin each week by the subcutaneous method, also known as SQ or SC. Some here inject as often as multiple times per day. Which method do you use and do you notice a different response to the b 12 injection of its given IM.

Only twice have I felt a tangible benefit on day of injection. I m dealing with neurological issues like ataxia (walking like I'm drunk) tremors among some other stuff.

5 weeks ago when I restarted SQ B12 injections, I had marvelous day , praise Jesus my Lord! I had about a 40 percent reduction in neuro symptoms across the board . A long awaited referral to a movement disorder has been obtained . Labs are wonky. I'll definitely be posting more questions, but for now do you find SQ or IM injections superior and please state why.

Thanks in advance for your response.

Both methods are equally effective . I can say this because I have tried both methods . On the boxes of b12 ampoules that I get from German online pharmacies, it is stated that I.M. , I.V , and sub-cut can be used.

Look at the U.S. site. perniciousanemia.org

It describes how to inject B12 subcutaneously.

I've been having IM and sc for 4 yrsts now .Initially the loading doses were IM and EOD IM.

Then s neurologist suggested SC .

The only difference I've personally found Is IM goes in alot quicker .

Csn be an advantage.

Can feel too 'wired '

I'm disappointed however IM last no longer than sc which doesn't really make sense as deeper.

But that is the case .

I've kept a log .

Sc girl in more slowly and tends to kero me 'steady '

I have IM too every 6 weeks .

Darnt change my routine as have come along way since 2018 .

I do sc myself with prescription b12 and bought.

I'd rather use this method at home

I find im has a quicker and more obvious effect, but hurts more to do. Sc keeps me steady, but no immediate effect from it. Initially, i didn't think sc worked at all, but now I'm further through treatment it's working better.

I tend to do im for as long as i can manage (eventually it hurts so much i can't face doing im for a while), then switch to sc to let my legs recover.

I need to ask for a different brand of hydroxocobalamin on my next prescription (cobalamin h), i find that one hurts less!

I've found the brands of hydroxocobalamin that contain sodium acetate sting like crazy!

Yes, i think i saw your post about it a while ago. Which put me onto the reason why cobalamin h didn't sting (it's got sodium hydroxide instead). So, thank you for that suggestion!

My naturalpathic doctor prescribed me the injectable B12 but I won't do it so I do the B12 regularly by my mouth and it works just as good for me

That's good if it works for you.

Alot of us have an absorbtion problem/PA

Oral B12 then won't work 😒

Hence the great invention of injectable B12 to keep us alive .

The B12 by mouth worked for me for many years until it didn't. My toes were painful and tingly. Pay attention to your symptoms just in case it stops working for you at some point.
