These are my student daughter's results. She is at uni in Edinburgh and struggling to find g.p. practice to take her on.

She has an iron panel coming too but sample haemolised so have to redo it. These are first blood tests and she is not taking any supplements.

Please advise on thoughts and next steps. Thanks

Students should have access to 'studeng health ' all will have access .Shd needs to be treated ASAP.

She will need NHS testing ic nog privately treated.

What are her symptoms?

Thanks for the reply.

"Student health" just say they have to register with a doctor and doctors say not taking new patients. I have found an NHS scotland email address that says they should be able to help her find one but no idea if they will.

She is tired, says her stomach hurts and has headaches regularly.

Not sure of the difference, but do you think it is PA or B12 deficiency and will she need more tests?

Your daughter must be feeling very unwell indeed with these B12, folate and vitamin D levels. Her TSH is a little raised, can I suggest you also post in the thyroid forum? They are very knowledgeable and may be able to help re Scotland.

I'm just thinking what I would do if she were my daughter.... I would personally be calling GPs in her area this morning and asking for someone to see her. Do they have an NHS Walk-in clinic nearby she could approach? As Nackapan says she needs to receive treatment asap.

Hi there, so sorry to hear your Daughter is poorly and struggling to find a GP, it will be a worry for you both, perhaps she’s already tried this one but my Daughter is also at Uni in Edinburgh and got in at Gilmore Practice, they have been excellent with her. Wishing your Daughter all the very best.

Thanks all for the help.

She found a g.p. to register with. Predictably, I suppose, they won't use the results paid for but want to do their own, so she has to go back for another round of blood tests next week before any treatment.

The high cortisol is worrisome. She needs B12, folate and vitamin D. The reason for the shortage of these vitamins should be investigated.

Thank you for the input Hockey_player - what sort of things are you thinking of for other tests/ possible causes?

Hi,

Sorry for quick reply.

If her low folate and low B12 is not due to diet then I'd expect her GP to at least test for PA (Pernicious Anaemia) and Coeliac disease.

Should be some useful info in my replies on thread below.

Thanks for the info. She is vegetarian but eats fish, eggs, dairy so I guess that should be sufficient. Nut not sure what is being tested so will just have to wait and see.
