B12 orders

Can I just ask, is there is a general concensus on which is the best type of B12 to order if you want to SI. Different people seem to be using different forms and I wondered if there was a general recommendation, do they all do the same thing or is it a case of trial and error to see what works best. For the individual. Many thanks in advance :-)

They all do the same thing. But you can certainly trial some different forms if you prefer one to another.

On this forum , nearly everyone uses Hydroxocobalamin b12,. as this is what the NHS uses . NHS used to use Cynocobalamin, but changed because Hydroxocobalamin was reputed to stay in the system longer so that they could inject patients less often . Cyno is cheaper than Hydroxocobalamin Cyno is used extensively in USA .

Methylcobalamin is reputed to be the best option . I’ve tried it but it was no better than Hydroxocobalamin for me It is much more expensive and difficult to obtain . Also less stable .

So there you have it Blueoxo . 🍀

PS Cynocobalamin should not be used by patients who have the rare eye condition called Lebers .

Ah thank you, I was getting a bit confused with it. I be ordered the one the NHS used to use but will switch to the other one next time if this one stays in your system longer. Thank you again

Well if you inject very regularly , I think you won’t notice any difference . Let us know how you get on with Cynocobalamin. . Would be interested to hear . Best wishes .

I’m in the US, so only cyanocobalamin is available. I’ve been using it for six months and it’s helped a lot. The only side effect I’ve noticed is a ringing in my ears that seems to intensify the day after my shot.

I've had that with hydroxcobalamin too.

I had a reaction to hydroxocobalamin and was moved onto cyanocobalamin, 20 years ago now. I have it every 3 weeks. It works well for me - the only issue is that it's not obtainable here at present.
