Two Experiences

1)Two days ago I went wading in the lake where I open water swim. I did not measure the temperature but it was frozen 5 days prior.

The pain was not as severe as it was when I waded in very cold water in 1965. There was not the relief I have experienced since 1965. The reason is I am not in as much pain due to more effective supplementation.

Note: I also experienced relief in hot water as the pain was neurological. That it was a circulation issue I knew was not rational but I was not aware of the neurological aspect. What I experienced is still not part of medical understanding.

The pain I have experienced my whole life seems to be on the wane. To be clear it is all I have ever known and my body adjusted to it until I started supplementation by producing adrenaline, hormones etc. I also discovered ways to mitigate it without medication. It was not debilitating until I started supplementation. The fatigue was debilitating.

I was told from childhood it was all in my head and I rationally accepted this determination. The determination would still be made today by everyone unless they have had this experience. It is not that I came to understand I have been in pain my whole life I came to understand not everyone is. No way I could have known until it went away.

2) I did a trial for 9 days that was not as effective as other trials. It included 2.5mg less of both methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin per day with the addition of hydroxocobalamin. It took 9 days to definitively determine that was inadequate when combined with 1 mg hydroxocobalamin. The reason(s) this was inadequate are unknown.

I increased the indicated amount based on information from prior trials by 2.5 per day of methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin and 4 hours later I experienced that the trial was effective. It has been 24 hours and the improvement is definitive.

As I improve my supplementation with frequency, form and amount the length of time I get reliable positive results has shortened from months when under supplementing to hours. Negative results to date have taken longer. This may or may not hold true for other trials including other supplements. It still takes time to heal, not as long with more effective treatment. Good design tends to work that way. Go figure.

It is reasonable to conclude that the length of time to heal and level of healing is related to the effectiveness of treatment. I do not totally discount what those who do not treat as robustly as I do. I do not rely on their prognosis which is based on less robust treatment.

I do not use the find what works methodology or I would have been satisfied with oral 1 mg daily folic acid and cyanocobalamin. It worked.

Although I understand that I have experienced symptoms that may have been caused by B12 deficiency since 1958 I do not conclude that is the only possible cause. I have allowed that it was possible I would experience positive changes in how my body experiences now. The experience with the wading is confirmation of what I subjectively thought I was experiencing.

Do you inject Methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin as well as Hydroxocobalamin? Where do you obtain the first 2 from and do you inject subcutaneous or inter muscular?

All three are injected SC

I obtain Methylcobalamin from Oxford Laboratories and reconstitute it to 1mg/ml. I choose to only inject 1mg/ml to maintain consistency in my trials.

Unfortunately I do not disclose my source of injectable Adenosylcobalamin due to personal risk.

I have no reliable information about the efficacy of IM vs SC. I did inject IM 3 years ago and found it to be painful. I was experiencing severe peripheral neuropathy at the time. The number of injections I take per day would seem to make IM not viable.

I will not be surprised if in the future I use an insulin pump to inject B12. I still am in the design phase of my self treatment so I have not yet studied that avenue other than to know procurement is going to be an obstacle.

They do produce a subcutaneous catheter but I have not studied that as I am still in the design phase.

I have asked a chemist and they indicated hydroxocobalamin and methylcobalamin can be compounded for injection which may be an advantage in the future.
