Hello everyone. I have recently been experiencing something and wonder if any of you have had this too. A nurse said you can start having build up of hard skin if you keep injecting on the same site. So I guess due to all the shots I've been getting in my rear end, I'm developing callouses in my skin. My wife said it' getting harder to inject the needle. I've looked on Amazon for needle-less injectible, but not a lot of options and/or expensive. Any suggestions? If I have callouses now, what about in 5 years? Is this just me?

I can’t imagine why you inject into your rear end . I use my thighs for self-injection. Alternately .If using the Intramuscular ( I.M.) inject into the central outer 1/3 of the thigh , where the Vastus Lateralis muscle is closest to the surface . ( look it up ) Using a 25G x 1inch needle It’s quite a large area . Used this method for nearly 10 years, weekly and never a problem .
If you use the sub-cutaneous method , then you have a much larger area at your disposal , — the whole of the front of your thighs . The injection needle can be very short and very fine — 30G x 6mm . And I wouldn’t want to inject more than 1 ml of B12 , using sub-cut .
Concur with Wedgewood, to my knowledge, intramuscular to the outer thigh is the standard.
Sorry, where do you buy that size from

Search for antonmove needles 30G x 6mm £16.99 for 100
They are .30 G needles supplied in 5 different lengths
I have never looked for 6mm needles but I keep 25g x 5/8 orange and they are 7.30 euro + vat per 100 in Ireland from Medgaurd . . . . . .
Some people really need as short and thin a needle as possible if they hate needles . That’s why I sought for them . Not easy to find .
Yeh I cant see them listed and medgaurd supply our HSE here. . . . . . . My wife uses Forsteo which is a pen thing with tiny needle and plunger thingy . . . . I tell her she's only scratching herself . . . . . . . I found a wet alcohol wipe or alcohol numbs the skin for those afraid. . . . Provided ye use it at least 30 secs before injection. . She is fine now after 100s, . . . . . . She uses my wipes now and I have sussed ones that are pretty wet with alcohol. . . . . .
Thank you. What length works for you?
I actually inject Intramuscularly. But I know that B12 can be injected Subcutaneously . I wanted to try it out .Also I have seen from messages on the forum that quite a lot of people are genuinely scared of needles . I wanted to find out if a very short , very thin needle would “do the business “. 30G x 6mm . So I used the sub- cutaneous method with that needle ( at 90degrees) for several months, and found that it worked well . I was pleased then to be able to recommend sub-cut using that needle , and hoped that needle -phobic patients would be encouraged .Because that fine , short needle does not look at all intimidating .
But having used I.M.method for 9 years , I’ve now returned to that method !
So you prefer IM?
Sorry for all the questions but is the 30g 6mm that you mention just the needle? I’ve looked for the insulin type needle and syringe of the size you mentioned but can’t find it
I suppose that I prefer I.M. because it’s what I’ve used from day 1 , since 2014. I feel at home with it . No logic behind it . Yes that’s just the needle. 30G x 6 mm from Amazon - Antonmove 30G x 6mm
I can understand the phobia and maybe by the time they get through a few boxes they get used to needles. . . . . . We have a man down the road from here . . . . A real big noisy man who was petrified of needles as in faint at the sight of one but unfortunately he had to get part of a lung removed. . . . . . He says now he couldnt care less ye came at him with 10 needles, , , , , ,
Sub C can result in hardening especially if the delivery is fast.. . . . . Anything above 1ml is generally avoided. . . . . . There should not be problems with IM. . . . . .
It's recommended to move the sites. Belly, flank, upper thigh could be options.
I bet you could have done with a wood butt when at school ! The cane wouldn't have hurt so much and it would have saved you slipping a book down your trouser's.
Joking aside. I inject into thighs and my upper arm muscles...........

I hope this link helps.
HA, HA, that's funny, but when I was in elementary school, they would paddle you at the drop of a hat, guilty or not. About the shots, yeah I'm not afraid of the needles, as long as they are not too thick, but it's the callouses that I'm developing from so many sticks. The nurse said I take too many shots in a week, (3 every M, W & F until recently), but I was also taking too much and wasting it. So, now I'm trying about 2 mg/1 ml on Mondays and Thursdays. I hope that is enough for me, but I guess my body will let me know. Thanks
Hi MrJustatip, I inject SC and use a fine short diabetic needle. I like the needle size but i wish they held more b12 as i have to poke myself twice. But they are so fine that I hardly feel them. I use the outer part of my thighs. Sometimes the top but i have no feeling on the side so it's painless. I also use my stomach, but i like my legs as i feel they have the worst symptoms. I like the feeling that the b12 is directly administered to the problem area. Probably all in my head but I'm good with that Lolol
Anyway these are the points i use.

Give your backside a break and try the thigh and tummy. Rotate your sites and if you use your tummy, they say to go 2 inches from your belly button and like a clock rotate injecting sites to keep from getting buildup. You can even do it yourself and give wify a break.
I use a 30G 1/2 " needle and Inject 1mg,/1ml.One Injection 💉 have done fir ovef 3 years now .
The diabetic needle are usually 31G and won't hold or deliver 1ml well
I'll look for those. Thanks.
Seperate syringe 2ml and screw on needle
Ok. Thanks I see. I will see if they carry them on the site I order from. I am limited in the US to order from Germany. Maybe I can find them somewhere else. Do you happen to have a link? I have larger syringes with huge needles. I maybe can find the smaller needles to go on them.
hello, I'm having a real problem too. I si subcutaneously stomach, thighs 3xdaily, try to rotate.. Lost a lot of weight and trying to miss blood vessels, painful spots and rhino skin . So where i can inject rapidly shrinking, so worried now. Sending best wishes x
