B12 and recent cold.

Hi everyone, I hope you are all well. Has anyone had similar experience? I have had this cold and cough that is going around for over a week. I feel exhausted and my gastric issues have flared up. Is this the cold or has it depleted my b12 levels? I have 10 weekly injections. Many thanks

hello, I sincerely hope that you feel better asap. Ive read posts here that illness, dental, operations, covid , physical and mental stress have caused relapse.

I was doing well until worry , mental and physical stress and the result, gastritis. That was just improving a little and I had a grandaddy of a migraine. Gastritis and flare up again and other symptoms worsened. Increased B12 s.i. amounts to combat this downturn.

So yes, I would say that its likely that your cold and cough has exacerbated your gastric issues again, caused exhaustion and depleted your B12. In which case you could try more B12 to help.

I have to add that the above is only my opinion, not medical advice.

All best wishes, x

Thank you for your reply Wheat. I always hope that my 10 weekly jabs will be enough!! And I will be symptom free for ever,How nieve is that😒. I was felling so fed up I thought I would share how I felt. Thanks for your support.

Yes, its so important to share here. I know how you feel, Im 70 and it's disappointing, to say the least, at times.

My way of dealing with it is keep on persisting, researching and reminding myself of small improvements.

Sending hugs x🙂🌷

I have had this cold then cough for over 3 weeks, luckily or not I was on holiday the first week, the last two weeks of going back to work and the 45 minute drive each way has wiped me out. Last week I upped my SI to daily for 6 days now starting EOD and hope to go to once a week again. I had been doing really well before this cold and had got down to once every week or two. Hope you feel better soon 😁

As you are self-injecting, might I suggest that every 10 weeks is not enough. I went from 8-weekly to now twice-weekly and am much, much better for it.

Hi , I have also had a flare up of gastric issues, it started the middle of October and it hasn't settled yet. I have put this down to being really stressed during September so I am SI weekly at the moment. If you don't mind me asking what stomach symptoms do you experience ?

Hi helliborous, sorry to hear you have ongoing gastric problems. I have a gnawing pain, nausea, bloating sometimes. The last episode I lost 2 stone in weight. Gastroenterologist said I had small hernia and erosions. As I was receiving b12 injections already there was no need to test for PA. Like many on this site I have little faith in the medical profession and try to manage my own health. Hope you feel better soon. Take care xx

I also can get gnawing pain radiating to my back and I feel as if something is moving around in my stomach, hope yours settles soon.

Have you ever gotten an explanation for this? I feel similarly on left side.

Hi Seattlecat, if you're referring to the movement in my stomach, no I have never had an explanation for it , sorry I couldn't help

We've all had a cough and cold which has also given us a gippy tummy. Lots of wind and 💩 And as I'm the only one with PA, it seems to be the virus causing it.

A cold is a bacterial detoxification due to you having high levels of toxins and pollutants. You get these toxins and pollutants from poor food, tap water, vaccines and beauty and cleaning products and what is sprayed on us.

Hi Mrsmr

So sorry to read how rough you are feeling but equally pleased to see your positivity too!

I am not a medic but I self inject as I was diagnosed with PA last year. I now inject far more frequently than what would be seen as “adequate “ treatment by the medics.

I would definitely increase your injections to once a week and see how you feel and if you go down hill after any improvement wears off then listen to your body and inject again. This is how I manage my condition and my recovery is much more steady this way. But it’s important you find what works for you.

Big hug and keep warm my friend.

I can't seem to keep warm, like my body thermostat is not working and I'm experiencing waves of coldness down my body. I took to my bed with a hot water bottle and felt better but I have thought for a while that I'm not coping with the cold weather nowadays. This has also resulted in a flare up of Diarrhoea. I am 77 y o and SI EOD.

Have you had your thyroid tested recently? 'Thermostat' problems are sometimes to do with thyroid issues and autoimmune problems often come in groups.

Years ago I saw a naturopathic doctor who did not have Pernicious anemia - not even sure she had b12 deficiency either.

Anyway, she told me in times of stress or illness she would regularly up her frequency of b12 shots. She felt the body would get depleted more quickly due to both issues.

Yes. I have had several colds this year and I have had to start splitting my 1 ml/day shot to half in the morning and half at night, but I couldn't say if that was because of the colds. I was previously doing these B12 shots twice weekly. Although, it wasn't until all the non-sense and mutant bugs going on the last 4 years have I had to up my B12 dosage and like everyone around me I keep seeming to catch every cold going around to some extent; whether it be mild or not. I had not realized how deficient I was until I got the lockdown bug and it sent my whole body haywire. Actually I had not thought until now that maybe these mutant bugs are the reason I've had to up my B12.

My gastritis has also flared up about 3 weeks ago after a high stress weekend and I'm still working at healing it. It would appear sugar period is just killer for me and I am now working on also detoxing my liver. So being extra healthy and having good habits is super important for all us who have vitamin absorption issues; which for us aside from eating anti-inflammatory foods and taking probiotics also means taking those daily supplements including our daily Bs daily.

Thanks everyone for your replies and support. I did Si yesterday because I felt so awful. This was a month since I had my b12 at the surgery. As wwwdot says listen to your body and treat accordingly. 🤞🤞 this will help. Best wishes.xx
