Confused about needle and syringe size

Hello, I'm new here 😊

Please can someone help regarding ordering the correct needle size and syringes? Planning on doing IM into thigh. I'm fairly slim - 160cm tall 56kg. I know I need a thicker longer needle to draw up the liquid but cannot work out what size to inject with. Too long and I guess it hurts more, too short and I guess it becomes Sub cut? Am I right with this? Also, I am supposing I need a 1ml syringe (for 1ml hydroxycobalamin) or is it better to get a large one that fits more? Any advice is most welcome please!

If you use. 1ml syringe you will find that you can’t draw up all the B12 in a 1ml ampoule of b-12 . So buy 2ml .

The withdrawing needle should be. 1 1/2 inches long and say 21G There are blunt withdrawing needles available .

You will find that a 25G x 1 inch injecting needle is fine for an Intra -muscular injection .

An ampoule snapper is useful ( Amazon ) A sharps box for used needles is also needed . You are now ready to roll ! Best wishes .

Thank you, that's really helpful! I notice the b12 ampules from Germany say 1500ug, is that correct? I thought it needed to be 1000, confused again! I'm planning on EOD to start as have neuro issues.

The ampoules are generally 1mg/1mlPascoe I think do the hydroxcobalamin 1.5mg dose / 1ml.

Some do 1mg/2ml??

Don't know why.

You can either give the whole lot perhaps every 3rd day? or if you prefer just inject 1mg eod.

No idea why this larger dose is made.

Someone else may know.

Thanks for your reply. It was the Pascoe brand I was looking at which is 1500mg in 1ml. Hoping that's ok, and as you say, may be able to go 3 days between as it's stronger. As I'm new to this I think it will be a bit trial and error.
