I have been reading this excellent book which explains in simple terms most of the things people need to know about PA. Well worth a read by those with PA and their friends, family & colleagues.
Helpful book.: I have been reading this... - Pernicious Anaemi...

Hi,
Glad you've found a useful book.
I can also recommend these if you have time to read them.
"What You Need to Know About Pernicious Anaemia and Vitamin B12 Deficiency" by Martyn Hooper
Martyn Hooper is the former chair of PAS (Pernicious Anaemia Society).
Living with Pernicious Anaemia and Vitamin B12 Deficiency" by Martyn Hooper
Has several case studies.
"Could it Be B12?: An Epidemic of Misdiagnoses" by Sally Pacholok and JJ. Stuart (US authors)
Very comprehensive with lots of case studies. There is also a paediatric version of this book "Could It Be B12? Paediatric Edition: What Every Parent Needs to Know".
"Vitamin B12 deficiency in Clinical Practice" (subtitle "Doctor, you gave me my life back!" by Dr Joseph Alexander "Chandy" Kayyalackakom and Hugo Minney PhD
Martyn Hooper's book "What You Need To Know ..." : I bought it in Foyle's and found a nearby pizza place, ordered a pizza and a beer and read. And read. And read. And finally understood. The personal chapter, his own story, really got to me. I was also struggling to remain in my job, teaching full-time adult students, at the time. Not winning the battle, not fully comprehending why something I'd done for over 25 years had become so very difficult, both mentally and physically.
What I love most is this : NONE of his books are exclusively for those with PA diagnoses; have a look at the titles. And this is certainly not true across the board - even people here on this forum talk of "just" or "only" B12 deficiency, ignoring the fact that those without a specific diagnosis do not suffer any less - or have elsewhere to go for help.
Martyn hoopers books have been invaluable and I now loan them to others. I also have all the others listed and have read them all several times.
