😩 STRESS

Nackapan profile image
31 Replies

I'm due to go to the doctors surgery tomorrow for my IM B12 injectionI looked at my NHS app .

A named person has cancelled my repeat prescription of b12 ampoules

I've just found out the named person is a receptionist at my new surgery .

( old one closed )

It was cancelled on starting there then reinstated by a pharmacist .

I also have not had a reply to a letter I sent a month ago.

I'd requested my medical notes as alot of wrong entries.

34 years were missing.

I've asked for an explanation ??

So the nurse may over run tomorrow

morning! as the receptionist I've spoken to didn't know why my b12 stopped.

Fortunately picked up last prescription in August !

Never ending

Yes it's actually becoming 'work'The stress is having to deal with a new GP.

Up to them again to'santion ' my prescription and regime of not!

Wasn't my choice having to deal with a new surgery.

Old one closed .

NHS app wiped clean.

The repeat prescription of B12 was only reinstated in May 2023.

Got my prescription in August .

Then without even informing me removed it ???

Admin/ receptionist I now know did it at the surgeries pharmacist request. The one that put it back on in May .

Thank you for reply .

Would they do this to someone on insulin

NO

Is this a communication failure ?

Can a pharmacist get a prescription stopped on request ? I would have thought that, should a pharmacist have any concerns regarding quantity, that they would have to at least discuss this with the GP that requested that frequency and signed the prescription (?)

You have done this, time and time over, for you, for your mum, for your daughter.

It is turning into something of a cyclical trial where you are forced to justify your need for B12 - mainly, I suspect, because the appropriate tests were not given to you at the appropriate time. You are stuck in what Martyn Hooper calls "purgatory": without a firm diagnosis, without explanation for your B12 deficiency.

Stress (especially unnecessary stress over which you have no control) must be the worst culprit for depletion of B12. B12 is the only treatment you have been given to control all of your symptoms, without offering any further investigations.

If they choose to remove the treatment, what are they going to do about your worsening symptoms : ignore them completely ?

I'm wishing really hard that you get a GP who sees and hears you, who is not resistant to learning and prides themselves on their investigative abilities.

Too much to ask ? No. Time someone took the weight off your shoulders now.

It was a pharmacist who removed my B12…had to write a stinker of a letter to the Practice Manager threatening hell and damnation…he rang me up with an ‘almost’ apology, said he’d spoken to a Haematologist who said I should be allowed 1 every 12 weeks not the 8 weekly I was on, I took that as a win then changed surgeries.

Seemingly it was the 'in house' pharmacists admin assistant that cancelled the repeat prescription as not 3 monthly!

You wouldn't think this could happen.

It's up to me now

1. To find out ( not consulted of indeed informed)

2. To sort

3. See a G.p

4. Nurse will not book further b12 injections

Finally managed to book a G.p appointment 4 miles away .

My surgery local 3/4 mile away.

Its in this new group set up.

No local appointments available.

No idea where this surgery is.

No idea how to cancel either as new online booking doest state .

No idea who I'm seeing.

You'd think if would state Gp name ?

Talk about using up precious energy.

It's all a mess I'm afraid .

These groups havr so many gps but no choice of who you see so no hope of continuity .

Too far away when 3 more surgeries within 1 mile.

Why have a named local surgery .

Nothing making sense .

This video by the person who started Club B12 says that nutrition and B12 is no longer on the curriculum. There is a tragic story discussed in the video.

Thank you for this video. Awfully sad personal story. Apalling that nutrition and B12 has not been in medical students training for past 10 years. Heaven help us all!

Thank-you for all replies.Back from the surgery .

Have all communicated with each other on this.

Receptionist. Another shot off . Nurse. All said exactly same .

Was it paranoia.

No.

Apparently no one has more than 3 monthly b12 injections

No one has a prescription to inject themselves at home.

The nurse b12 deficient herself on a precious appointment told me she has 8 weekly???

The nurse very different wth me .

I sat quietly and said was i getting the b12 injection?

On this occasion ( like s favour!!)

Yes.

No more can be booked .

I must see s G.p ASAP.

I asked the receptionist yo fill out thd appointment request.

Stating vision blurry which it was. ( furious inside ) shaking.

Totally quiet choosing words .

As j gave s reason she did it.

Asked what to write ✍

B12 prescription removed.

Without consultation.

You then receive a text with a link.

Thd text said ;

It appears you have had z b12 injection today.

A consultation needed ax to see why such a frequency needed.

Followed the link .

It said.

No appointments

Link expires in 3 days.

If unsuccessful contact the surgery .

We all know that's almost impossible.

I've only just left.

I'm back Friday as nurse woukd only do b12 not blood test .

Another appointment needed.

I utterly despair at the current system.

Too many receptionists and admins doing things way above their grade .

My prescription was cancelled by thd In house pharmacy admin worker.

Non clinical.

I had s review with thd pharmacist when nes to the surgery.

Shd put the repeat b12 on my notes.

I've collected one lot thankfully .

If no appointments by Friday i will brace myself for another sit in as z vicious circle going nowhere.

When / if I get to see s Gp dread having to go through it all.

Then at the mercy of whoever I get yet again.

We are being persecuted .

Just wanting the treatment we need.

Will update.

Weary ,weary

We're all rooting for you Nackapan.

I wondered if Tracey Whitty of B12 Info.com (formerly B12 Deficiency Info) would be interested in blogging about your story. It's ridiculous that you're going through this again and again.

Yes. A locum that listened. Reinstated my b12 prescription.

Did say coujd happen again by a pharmacy admin.!!

Computer highlights not 'normal' frequency.

Also 99.9% IM at the surgery .

I collect ampoules and self inject sc.

IM at surgery every 6 weeks.

Thanks for asking I thought I'd posted lol
