I have been unwell for 3 years with multi symptoms including stomach , history of diarrhoea, constipation, food in the stool ,joint pains, exhaustion.

Can SIBO cause symptoms apart from the stomach.?

I’m having the breath test in a couple of weeks

Thank you

SIBO can be a cause of b12 deficiency. If that's the case a load more symptoms can happen.

Hi Merav,

I am so sorry to read. 3 years is a long time and of course you are exhausted.😞 Unfortunately, you can experience a plethora of symptoms like joint pain.

Here is a Route to Resolution. Do not get hung up on the huge amount of information. Put a blank sheet over your screen to block out info except for

Aetiology meaning cause.

Achlorida (no stomach acid), Hypochlorida (low stomach acid), stasis (the gut not contracting properly), collagen deficiency, age, immune, pancreas, liver then it says fibromyalgia. This is an umbrella term to describe wide spread pain and fatigue. The specialty is rheumatology.

Joint pain, muscle joint pain and weakness occurs in lots of illnesses like SIBO. If naughty bacteria are stealing your essential nutrients then you can be poorly.

It is definitely worth printing the link and taking with you to give to the clinician who ordered the breath test. They may have not seen this clinical pathway.

I have a piece of advice for you .It worked for me, when I was having horrible gut problems like bloating and stomach pains . ——-

Have porridge for breakfast ,with some milled flax seeds—- I do mean proper oats —not those processed quick cook oats . . It did the trick for me . There is something in oats that is so good for the gut( called beta-glucan) It benefits the lining of the gut - Porridge also slows down your digestion, and keeps you feeling full . Im actually not keen on porridge, but I never have a breakfast without it now. It may not be the answer for you , but if not, it will have done you no harm . Don’t expect immediate results . Best wishes .

Hello,

I have big history with gut problems, acid reflux, stomach ulcers and all the symptoms you mention.

Started with the reflux, then took omeprazole, which worked but have bigger side effects of reducing stomach acid to the point where i did not digest food properly and have vitamin and mineral deficiency.

Once off omeprazole then had stomach pain, loads of issues and ulcers.

I did totally turn this around and now have no issues.

I took cayanne pepper 1/4 teaspoon twice a day before meals, decent sea moss gel and probiotic (as I had quite a few courses of anti-biotics) my stomach was a mess.

I also changed my diet totally, removed gluten as much as possible and refined sugar, products with loads of sugar.

I was on regular B12 injections, but I now only SI every month, but probably not needed now.

Sounds like one of my daughters. She used fodmap as a base of elimination to change her diet .

Almond milk her saviour .

Porridge good too and lots of seeds .

She now a couple of yesrs later still Strictly remains diary ,gluten ,Fructose and egg free .

Very low sugar .

High content plain cocoa dark chocolate her only sweet treat.

She has however started to slowly reintroduce fish.

Chicken . Red meat still a problem after trying.

Better with higher protein foods .

Has to watch amounts of different foods .

So much better .

Still can get indigestion/ reflux very occasionally usually due to fatigue .

Has an 'emergency ' anti emetic' drug.

Also used prebiotic drinks.

No anti - acids for several years now.

Does need regular b12 Injections and a daily folic acid despite lots of chard and greens.

A hosputal dietician supported and advised her but didnt make the plan.

So carefully managed can improve greatly.

She wad labeled with fibromyalgia and Chrinic fatigue which at one point seemed to cease investigations.

A referral to a Pain clinic was done .

In her case too many years without a b12 deficiency diagnosis .

Was found finally with megabolistic anaemia present ,very low ferritin ,very low vit D ,.

Nutritionally being starved of vital nutrients.

I forgot about the cayenne pepper.

Avocados were tge first proper food to be digested properly.

With cayenne pepper and salt .

I used to buy avocados by the box in varying degrees of ripeness.

Overjoyed something working at last.

Same with almond milk .

Fortunately long shelf life .
