Did I get this wrong

So I’ve worked my frequency’s out on the basis of when I feel breathless and achy I’ve overdone it and prob need to increase my shots or I’ve left too long a gap, but usually it’s a max of one week between them so I had a rethink as my pains increased

I’ve not felt well for weeks and despite increasing my shots I’ve felt no benefit,I’ve just been so tired and breathless a lot and no enthusiasm or energy and a lot of random pains so today after trying numerous times online I toddled on down to the medical centre to make an appointment. Long story there’s signs all over the gates saying no more walk-in appointments can be made we will only book via the phone..so I went back to my car feeling despondent because I couldn’t get through on the phone as usual despite sitting there in the car calling..Then I got angry and thought stuff this I walked in and said to reception I’d like to see the gp please, she says no you have to phone for a slot or book online, first avail appointment online is 14th NOV. I’ve already tried ,I said I’m on the phone now ,I’ve got mobile in hand, and your chatting to me so obviously I can’t get through and I need to see a gp, then she says ok I’ll do it this once then I have to exlain to her why I need an appointment..bloody ridiculous system.

The actual gps are really nice so I get thoroughly examined he tells me he’ll arrange bloods and chest X-ray,I really need a ct scan but they can’t go ahead and arrange that they have to go through this process first,ok,then he says we also need to do an echo,I said why,he says you know you have a heart murmur right? I can hear the valves jumping around ,(whatever that meant.) I said no I didn't know I’ve been in hosp twice with chest pains and told nothing wrong.

My point to this long boring* heard it all before story is so others don’t become complacent like me and assume they just need to increase frequency’s of shots, please get yourself checked out ,as has been said here so many times we are not medically qualified so if you are getting any new or any long drawn out symptoms don't assume it’s your p.a or deficiency fight to get checked.

It shocked me today but now I feel relieved that at least I’m having the testing I need from a decent gp,he acknowledged my fears because of family history and had no hesitation arranging what I needed for peace of mind. take care x

Glad you were seen, glad that the GP knew what he was doing when you did get seen, and relieved that a cause has been found for your problems finally.

You should not ever have to wait for 8 weeks for a primary care appointment.

Trouble is the receptionist is only carrying out her frontline job as instructed : someone has appointed her as the "bulldog at the gate", leaving the GPs free to be really nice. Prior to Covid lockdown, the receptionists were nice too. This ridiculous new system has made us desperate, angry and voiceless - which makes them quite vulnerable.

I did once go to the GP urgently -with frequent heart problems which occurred day and night. I had a 24-hr heart monitor fitted which showed up almost 4,000 episodes. Ventricular ectopics : start for no known reason and can just as suddenly stop, statins usually prescribed by GP - and no need to see a cardiologist.

At the same time, this new panicked GP decided to stop my NHS injections due to my frequent self injecting. Nothing actually to do with the ventricular ectopics, which two months later went away without needing statins, and despite my continuing to self inject frequently.

Ah well. Still better to check, especially since both my mother and father had heart conditions.

It is great advice. I too had symptoms that could have been b12 deficiency, that had already been diagnosed & was already on shots. It was my thyroid, and I have since had a thyroidectomy. So great reminder.

Hope everything goes well for you. All the best.
