can I ask if any members find that lack of B12 increases depression.I find when “low” that an increase in SI is becoming necessary.I would be grateful for members views.

Mental health and B12 deficiency is mentioned in these books
B12 books I found useful
"What You Need to Know About Pernicious Anaemia and B12 Deficiency" by Martyn Hooper
Martyn Hooper is the former chair of PAS (Pernicious Anaemia Society).
"Could it Be B12?: An Epidemic of Misdiagnoses" by Sally Pacholok and JJ. Stuart (US authors)
Very comprehensive with lots of case studies.
These symptoms lists also mention depression and other mental health symptoms linked with B12 deficiency.
Folate deficiency can also be associated with depression and other mental health symptoms.

I'm not a health professional.
100% that low B12’creates depression . Just inject more frequently.. Best wishes .
thank you wedgewood. As always you give me kind advice. It’s just common sense really. It’s difficult to see the wood for the trees when the black dog hits.Best wishes.Me
Meant to say also that depression caused by B12 deficiency will not be helped by anti depression tablets . Only B12 will help
thank you for mentioning that Wedgewood. I was offered antidepressants yesterday yet again. I told her I don't have an antidepressant deficiency, I have a B12 deficiency. that is the cause of my depression. I just need more B12 when I get like that.
Good for you! I hope she does some research on that .
I agree with what Sleepybunny and the others replied. Although I've not journaled or tracked this on myself. I can say that if I go a longer period between injections It does begin to negatively affect me both physically and mood. So if I miss an injection my body and mind quickly remind me "dude inject". 😝

Yes, absolutely. Depression, anxiety and insomnia. All major issues for me if I don't inject everyday. Good luck to you. Hang in there. It is not you it is the B12. 🦋
Thank you all very much.I feel very supported. Will be upping my B12 and will be feeling better without that awful cycle of antidepressants .Much gratitude to everyone.
Depression, anxiety and exhaustion are my main symptoms, along with insomnia. I know when I need an injection as I quickly reach a point where I can barely think straight or face normal everyday life.
My gp falls over herself offering anti depressants but refuses to discuss b12 deficiency as a cause. I’ve tried to explain that b12 resolved everything and anti depressants have little to no (positive) effect but it all fell on deaf ears.
I recently obtained copies of my hospital notes - GP notes 'missing' - and see that many times in the last 35 years they listed me as depressed, but nobody told me. A few months ago I realized from other members that depression is an effect of B12 deprivation but no doctor connected it with my PA.
Weekly injections have lifted my mood immensely, though still a way to go.
I can sympathise as my depression was treated by various anti depressants for 20/30 yrs.Now B12 helps tremendously and at least we can recognise the symptoms and can step up S.I.Keep going. The black dog will lift.Very best wishes.Ann
