hello l was wondering at what point do you start to feel better after the B12 injections? I have just finished my period of injections every two days. I have days when I have so much energy that l can’t sleep or total exhaustion that doing anything ware’s me out and I just want to sleep. I have also had a couple of days where I’m very depressed and down. Days were l can’t stop crying and l don’t know why? Does this level out?

It's a very good sign you'd had energy bursts .It all takes time.

Definitely a rollercoastef of symptoms.

I got alot worse before improvements started .

What is your maintenence regime?

Can make iron snd othef vitamins out of range .

So get bloods or take a modest multivit .

Yes l take a great multivitamin on the advice of my doctor. It’s the rollercoaster of symptoms that’s really difficult to deal with. No two days are the same. Is this what you found after the original B12 injections every two days?

Managing B12D is a trying matter. It takes time and it is very up and down. With the right level of B12 it will calm down. Try and manage the ups and downs, like not doing too much when you have energy. Save it up for times when you don't.

I was very ill at the start .

Thd rollercoaster of symptoms came later .

Sounds like you are doing well

You need to continue with the injections until there is no further improvement According to NICE guidelines. Tel your GP they need to continue

How are folate levels? Low folate can also cause issues and prevent b12 from doing its job.

Sounds like you may need continued injections.

Have other conditions been checked, e.g thyroid?

Hi, Sorry to hear you're still feeling awful 😔 I and everyone else here has " been there ".

Being totally honest with you, your initial course of injections is unlikely to be a quick fix.

Most of us find recovery a long haul, and as HeartyGilly said, every other day injections should continue until there is no further improvement in your condition.

You may face a battle with your GP to get that, but lots of advice on this forum about how to approach your doctor .

It took nearly six months before I felt really well, and up to a year to get back to something like normality, and that's not unusual.

However, I got there 😃 and although I don't think I'll ever be as energetic as I used to be, life is good !

It's frustrating, but have patience, keep going and above all don't lose heart !

Theres always support here if you find yourself flagging 👍

Wishing you all the very best xx

Hello, my wife had to call 911 because I could not stop crying. B12 deficiency causes one to lose control of their emotions. Still wondering about how long after injections to get better. It's slow about a year.

Hi, Sorry to hear that. Yes, my emotions were all over the place too.

Please see my reply to Ooopsy above, recovery was very slow for me too.

I have to say , self injecting once a week was the turning point for me feeling better.

Keep going though, and as I say - don't lose heart !

Wishing you all the best xx

I call them pull and push days. It took me a long time to find my therapeutic dose but now I have found the sweet spot, I have very few symptoms. I do have times when my fatigue returns but I have a pull day and within a few days I am ok again. We must remember our bodies are constantly in flux so no two days will be the same. Even without battling PA.
