Cobasorb test in draft Nice guidelines - is it useful?

On page 13 of the draft guidelines a cobasorb test is mentioned to measure b12 absorption.

Is this an old test/new test/useful test/should be deleted from the guidelines as useless test?

I looked it up but mentions seem to be from a few years ago.

Thank you.

It seems to be a new test. We are discussing it here in the replies healthunlocked.com/pasoc/po...

As I understand it, Cobasorb can not be used once supplementation has commenced. I've not studied it in depth so cannot explain further.

Yes that's what I've read too - got as far as that which took about 2 hours (🐌).So perhaps good for initial investigation when people turn up at the gp. That would be something positive.

"Good for initial investigation when people turn up at the gp" :

This could be a very positive step IF the test is readily/ widely available, cheap and reliable. Since no-one has yet said a word about having this test here, I'm guessing that there is a glitch of some sort. Time can be of the essence with treatment, so a test, or a second confirmatory test, needs to be all of the above to prevent this.

Yes I've been struck by how little clear information there is on current (if any) use of the test -ie. is it being used anywhere in the UK? I haven't gone very far though.

Curious that it suddenly makes an appearance in the draft guidelines!
