The Times has an article today about B12 deficiency. The readers comments at the end are interesting.
The article is called ‘Brain fog in elderly and vegans may be caused by lack of vitamin B12’.

Thanks. This is a much fairer/better article than the Telegraph one posted here earlier today on the same guidelines. It shows the difference in the quality of writing in The Times vs The Telegraph.
Personally I found it over symplistic as it seemed to imply that dietary deficiency was the reason for B12 deficiency being more prevalent in the elderly - reality is that it's more prevalent because stomach acidity tends to reduce as you get older but that may be that the guidelines are inadequate - wouldn't be that surprising if they were.
Thanks for sharing Jan. I wonder if Martin Warren really is an expert on B12. I haven’t come across one yet! I’m going to look him up and see if he’s done any research papers etc. . The NICE provisional guidelines still need tweaking hugely of course. We can all comment . It’s open to public consultation until mid August. There are other posts about this. But at least things are being drip fed through . The cynic in me knows it’s just another news article because the NICE guidelines are being tweaked currently due to the hard word of Martyn Hooper , PAS and other online groups . So Thankyou to them
