Injecting:

I am throwing this out there as I found it helpful and have not read it anywhere.

When I inject either SC or IM I can prick my skin a bit and find a place with no nerve and that is where I inject without pain, usually.

You’re absolutely correct. I do this when I inject heparin twice daily. Sometimes even the smallest prick will draw blood but the actual injection rarely does. If I ignore the warning of the prick before inserting the needle it’s always painful and almost always causes a heamatoma! So worth pricking around 😂

also bonus tip I only recently discovered, apply cold compress to the area (then do the alcohol wipe) before you inject to prevent bruising and imo may also prevent pain. (I do subcutaneous and I’ve had some pretty awful bruising even when it was a pain free jab). I also do the skin prick thing, definitely agree not to inject if it hurts too much you don’t want to create problems for yourself.
