I had some episodes of laughter related syncope last year but can't say I'd ever come across RAS as direct consequence of B12 deficiency in adults beyond the article Jillymo has referenced below. I don't think the syncope last year was related to B12 just one of those things.

Thanks anyway wedgewoodI'm on the Facebook group B12 wake up and someone else asked recently about vasovagal syncope and if there was a connection with B12

My son was diagnosed with RAS just before his first birthday.. and altho I've never had a seizure I have had 'episodes' that I think are related to RAS

RAS is a particular type of convulsive syncope (transient loss of consciousness) with stiffening and or shaking. It is neither epileptic (see entry Epilepsy), nor due to deliberate breath-holding. It is a type of severe syncope or 'faint', caused by a temporary loss of the supply of blood carrying oxygen to the brain.

Vitamin B-12 deficiency causes reduction in myelinization, deceleration in nerve conduction and elevation in serum concentrations of noradrenaline. These factors may contribute to the impairment of autonomic functions which are involved in the pathogenesis of vasovagal syncope.
