blood test results help! Haemoglobin, RBC low but iron in range?

hi there

I just received my blood test results and my Haemoglobin, RBC and HCT were slightly lower than guidelines but my full iron panel came back in range. Spoke to GP who said she isn’t worried and to eat iron rich food and a multivitamin & to test again in 3 months. My ferritin is 49 but rest of iron panel seems top of range so a little unsure of how much supplementation would be safe?

I also have hashimotos & UAT. I’ll attach results below. Thank you!

A multivit often only contains 14mg of iron.Spartone useful as in sachets 5mg.

To get the most out of food I.e meat have it with vit c in small portions.

Gp said safe and will recheck in 3 months .

I don't understand your results but have taken above and more to raise and maintain iron levels and ferritin .

As I got symptomatic when my ferritin dropped from 61 to 29

Although still in range was told to keep it above 50.

I still have blood tests but have gone from 3 monthly to 6 monthly .

Please note that the ranges given on test results are statistically 'normal' ranges - that means they indicate where you would expect 90-95% of the population to be - applying these back to individuals is difficult because there will be some people who naturally sit outside the normal range but aren't unwell. A lot of the time general tests are used to flag up where something might be going wrong so result in further tests. Your results are only just below the normal range and other tests aren't indicating a problem which is why your GP isn't worrying.

Hi,

Has your doctor checked your B12, folate and Vit D levels as well?

Pernicious Anaemia is an auto immune condition that can lead to B12 deficiency.
