Prescription back!

Nackapan profile image
12 Replies

I'd put a letter in thr surgery post box on Saturday. It was a 'strong' letter and I didn't want to dilute it which would probably have happened if not posted straight away.

I had s text .today

No apology

No Gp signing.

Simply saying my repeat B12 prescription has been reinstated and has been sent electronically to the named pharmacy.

Later found out by another Gp I've not seen. .

He/ she obviously took the time yo read through my notes.

So over for this 'round'

well done for putting your case forward strongly and getting a good result. It’s a shame we have to but unfortunately this seems to be happening more and more as the surgeries think they’re cutting costs 😣

Yes.I think on this occasion the Gp gave a glance at my notes .

Decided nothing wrong with me.

And took the decision to cancel repeat prescriptions of b12 and iron.

I knew iron would go as you can buy it over the counter .

I buy vit D

Even though told to supplement 3000iu daily and have had two loading doses prescribed to date.

Ferrous fumarate 210.mg

I wanted to stay on my prescription as 'prescribed' and that then ensures blood tests to monitor.

My mums b12 has been removed twice.

Pending a blood test

They just arrived snd took the blood after I'd cancelled it.

Communication.

It was relatively low considering having injections so just fuelled the case to increase the frequency rather than stop it.

She is 93 . Csnt as deaf. And wouldn't question a doctor anyhow.

I've been 'her voice ' since my dad can't anymore.

It really makes s difference 2 monthly now.

And let's really hope that that is that.

This GP that took time to read through and act on your letter - may be the one to ask for next time. No apology on behalf of a colleague unsurprising, but may turn out to be more thorough and that is something.

Yes not seen that Gp yet .So many of them .

Know a few to absolutely avoid now.

Will try snd look up the one that bothered to sort it for me.

Was addressed to 'normal one' and senior partner I have met.

Receptionist told who wax on duty that day when telling me IM b12 cancelled as no nurse.

Strange the doctor didn't sign text .

Have collected the prescription

Hurrah.

Another win for you, but why the battle in the first place ? If only they would put same amount of effort into helping you find answers...

Forget about them - what a waste of your precious energy.

Difficult enough to find the fight and hope necessary to keep searching without these hurdles being placed in front of you. I'm now focussing, with fingers crossed, on next year's NICE review of medical guidelines, and short-term maybe my next Oral Medicine appointment, since all else crossed off the list and lovely GP has left.

High five for winning another battle.

Hang on tight to that letter some of us might need to use it. 👋

No apology or acknowledgment of anything by anyone specific person/GP. Unfortunately for them to apologise implies liability….hence they won’t do. What has the world come to eh!!

Yes or just responsibility. I've heard too many reports recently.

Advised to call an ambulance when not an emergency.

So many hospital appointments cancelled .

Not given another date.

Telephone consult missing a very ill patient s needs .

Signs everywhere they won't tolerate abuse.

However politeness seems to get you no where.

Our surgery door has been smashed .

Ill scared people ignored.

After all the covid restrictions.

People need to be seen and heard.

A broken calm broken record does work.

But as cherlyclair rightly says the stress and energy it takes is appalling.

Everyone needs an advocate.

Picking your fights vital for survival.

I've let alot go.

Not My b12 prescription though .

Awareness of b12 needs to be' out there.'

Yes true about liability.

Haven't heard of any Gps being sued by a single patient complaining .
