Jf you have autoimmune Atrophic Gastritis , you have Pernicious Anaemia. If that is the case i hope that you are being adequately treated and getting sufficient B12 injections. This is not easy because of the medical profession’s ignorance of the condition . So have you been diagnosed with PA?
Suggest that you speak to a pharmacist as I am not sure that paracetemol is classified as an anti-inflamatory drug. Its certainly not the same family as aspirin and ibuprofen etc (NSAID) which is the class of drugs that can cause stomach issues.
Personally I like tramadol but that is because it gives me a mild high but I would avoid using it for any length of time as it has been linked to addiction. Whilst it isn't an opioid it uses similar mechanisms for pain relief. Others can find it difficult to tolerate because it can make you drowsy.
I’m sorry I think you misunderstood me I am not suggesting paracetamol is anti inflammatory I was saying that I can’t take anti inflammatory drugs ..ibuprofen to name but one.I was looking for experience from others with my conditions on taking Tramadol.
Tramadol is indeed an opioid and like all opioids has considerable dangers particularly as we get older. I need to use it now and again when pain caused by PA gets unbearable - I only every take it for one day in the smallest dose possible. It always hits my memory badly.
As you have P.A. you will also have low /no stomach acid ( Hypochlorhydria/ Achlorhydria) .These conditions cause problems . Low stomach acid upsets the stomach flora and allows bad bacteria to proliferate . This can cause stomach pain , bloating, indigestion, reflux . Also , poor absorption of vitamins , minerals and trace elements . I had these problems before I discovered I had P.A. and before I could get adequate B12 injections ( I need 1 every week ) I had to find my own remedy . I don’t know if this will help you .but my remedy would not harm you .
Eating smaller meals more often , and chewing really thoroughly can also help .
I took a probiotic called Symprove for 3 months ,and started to self inject regularly . There are cheaper probiotics than Symprove. Also natural ones like organic raw sauerkraut , real yoghurt , kefir and kimchi .
Since then all “gut “ problems are gone , and I eat normally .Don’t take Symprove any more . Some P.A. patients take an acidic drink like diluted organic apple cider vinegar , lime juice with meals . There is a preparation called Swedish bitters which might help . . In severe cases , Betaine Hydrochloric Acid with pepsin helps ( you can look that up on the internet ) Best of all consult a nutritionist.
Our stomach acid is very important to our health . Unfortunately doctors are not well trained in realising this . My GP for example had never heard that P.A. patients have low / no stomach acid ! The P.A. antibodies that we produce annihilate the Parietal cells in the stomach . These cells produce the Intrinsic Factor and stomach acid . …………..
I’m sorry I haven’t answered your question about Tramadol , because I’ve no experience of it . But I hope that I’ve helped you a bit . Best wishes .
I've used Tramadol off & on for over 20 years with my crohn's disease & it works great! I have to be real careful too, cause other pain medications can cause me to have a flare-up. I recommend tramadol compared to all the other prescription pain relievers!
I also have atrophic gastritis & I've got many other health conditions too. I also have a Hickman's line & do IV hydration every other day myself at home. I'm currently trying to get prescribed tramadol for a bad flare-up that just started. Hydrocodone works well for some, but it's really harsh on your stomach & be real careful with over the counter products for pain, causes me stomach bleeding. Good Luck to you!
I took prednisone(steroid) for over 10 years + that now has done damage to my body & my body is clearly addicted to it. Everytime I taper down, my body goes into freak out mode without it. I'm currently taking high doses of prednisone & awaiting a new biologic to replace Tremfya drug in Dec called Skyrizi. Tell me more about Addison's, I don't know much about that one? My newest diagnosis was POTS, which answered many health conditions I was having with my crohn's.
Addisons is an auto immune disease one of three that I’ve had for a very long time.My adrenal glands don’t function I take adrenal in tablet form aka Hydrocortisone ..no choice without it I would die..I also take thyroxin and have PA and atrophic gastritis
I have Psoriasis & PA too. Just curious, when did you get diagnosed? What we're your symptoms up to getting diagnosed? & did they start suddenly or gradually? I can't imagine & hope you've learned well how to cope with that on top of your other diagnoses. When I got my 1st autoimmune, Dr's warned me more would follow, cause most people have at least 2.
I took Tramadol for over ten years after a cardiac bypass surgery. I don't think they got my ribs and sternum lined up exactly right when they closed me up and I had daily chest pain around my sternum, ribs and muscles. I have hemorrhagic atrpophic gastrititis which went untreated for several years and almost anything can cause a GI bleed for me. I had constant stomach pain. I am not sure what degree Tramadol played in this, but I stopped taking it, along with any muscle relaxers, alcohol, and blood thinners. I also started a twice per day B12 injection routine about about 8 -9 months ago and I have seen major improvement in all of my symptoms. I can once again drink a cup of coffee without searing pain and I have not had a GI bleed or needed an iron infusion in almost a year. Tramadol may or may not have contributed to my stomach irritation, but nothing stronger than Tylenol for me anymore. I prefer some pain rather than multiple blood transfusions and iron infusions every year. I also used to smoke some medical marijuana to relieve pain and reduce anxiety, but in reality it actually made things worse for me, so I stopped that also. Surprisingly, I rarely have any significant chest pain now. Good luck in your quest.
