so confused and defeated

i still have the msg i first sent here about 6yrs ago desperate for help over the change in my behaviour . Id had my small bowel removed as a child age 4 . Then in my medical records state i had a ieocolic resection age 14 . I cant recall this as iv always had b12 injections and never questioned this . I bought the pA books for my gp to inform them that my mental health wad due to this . Since then i had a breakdown and know this was due to the harassment i got at work was causing extreme anxiety. I worked so hard to understand the ifs and whys . I now know every thing there is to know about mental health and the behaviour is the symptoms of a diagnosed condition, as would be with physical pain in a medical issue . My issue lead me to run my own case at the tribunal as work became the trigger to panic disorder and now general anxiety disorder . The people i assumed would be there was the ones who wouldnt accept the reason i didnt visit or go out socially was due to mental health and over the years have lost the connection we had . Now i know the root cause after alot of councilling . I also got agrophobia that comes with panic disorder and rarley go out and prefer my own company as my fear is trusting anybody after my experiances . Since covid my b12 injections were stopped then i started them again. I missed a few due to gp changing. Now after a blood test they have told me i cant have them as my b12 is high even though iv missed them for months . Im always tired and put it down to my mental health but worry because iv told them iv got PA and i cant absorb b12 . Iv no fight in me as i had it out with them years before. Is it safe that theyve done this after always having them before . Sorry its so long but iv tried to get through to them without success

hi Medium73 so sorry to read this and your not alone I can relate so much to it all especially the so called friend and family issues when your Ill.

Why don’t you have a look at Tracy Witty website, she has just started a new forum and I’m sure it’ll be a lifeline for an awful lot of confused and lonely sufferers of p.a,especially our mental health issues.

This forum is good for any symptom advice etc but doesent appear to favour any “off topic chat”. Tracy can offer you a lot of practical help with gp approaches etc,you just sound like you need a bit of knowledgeable help and a cuddle and a safe place to go to that you can feel relaxed in and not worry about “ rule breaking”.

Best of luck x

I suggest that you self-inject , like most of us have to , because of doctor’s ignorance of P.A. / b12 deficiency.

It’s too exhausting trying to get through to them , especially if you don’t feel well . It’s difficult to obtain the B12 ampoules at the moment . There is a shortage . But if you persist you will be able to obtain them . I will message you privately .

Hi,

Might be worth joining and talking to PAS (Pernicious Anaemia Society).

PAS membership is separate to membership of this forum.

They can offer support and pass on useful info.

I had to treat myself when NHS refused to treat me.

The next link has letter templates covering a variety of situations linked to B12 deficiency.

Maybe you could write a short letter to GP.

a few months ago someone posted this very interesting and useful article that may be part of the puzzle that explains why some of us continue to experience B12 deficiency even though serum B12 levels are high

casereports.bmj.com/content...

It does underline the fact that just acting on serum B12 is not the right thing to do as serum B12 is a very long way from being an accurate measure of bio-available levels of B12 in blood, let alone how much is available in cells.

Interesting article Gambit. It might be good ammunition to take to physicians that want to reduce or eliminate injections. It's also another good reason to treat the symptoms, not the numbers.
