S/I as a large person

Hi guys

So say i MAY know someone who is going to go ahead and S/I and may be buying all the stuff for it right now. 😇 But im reading about different needle sizes etc. i was initially told 25/1" however, on reading i have seen that larger people need larger needles. this person is fat so have a lot more fat to get to the muscle though i dont' know really if a 1" is good enough? Do any larger people S/I and use a 1 or a 1.5" needle ?

delete if needed sorry if this isn't allowed but could privately message me ?

Thanks :)

oz

A larger than average person would need a longer needle for an Intra-muscular injection to get through the fat layer , Yes a 1 1/2 inch needle would be appropriate. x 25 G

It is also possible to inject B12 subcutaneously , when a 30G x 1/2 inch needle would suffice .

I’ve been thinking that maybe a 25G x 1.25 needle may be long enough . You can look it up on the internet . You have to pinch the flesh that is to be injected ,and measure it .

ive Read;

1" needle 60-70kg

1 -1.5" 70-90kg

1.5 " above 90kg

1/2" -5/8" for sc

hope

that helps

probably why nurses use 23G ×1" for everyone as in the deltoid muscle

Yes i think they use 1" on me in deltoid and i have ordered 1.25 and will alternate between arm and leg think it'll be fine :)

Where is this person ;) planning to self inject? I am 58kg and have been told by three different medical professionals to use a 1 1/2" in my thigh. This is what I have been using for over a year and it has worked.

great to hear that I'll use the shorter ones in my deltoid and get some longer ones for thigh then
