Hi Ive had 3 loading jabs so far and not feeling great -sick dizzy but reassured on previous answers this is normal. Next dose Monday and Friday ( no Wednesday due to staff problems) I have an oral B12 liquid recommended on Mumsnet . Would this be ok to take today tomorrow and next week between jabs or is this not wise? I really value all your help. It’s hard when your brain has gone awol!

There’s absolutely no harm in doing so . But many PA patients do not benefit from oral supplements .

It's totally up to you

I imagine as you are feeling so lousy you've enough b12 working hard at present though.

In my opinion adding more in your present regime may cloud the waters

I too felt worse before better.

It takes time

Try to ride the wave

A reaction is good

when I felt so ill after an injection I kept up a chang in my head .

It's working and nerves waking up randomly

I thought of a computer rebooting .

I did try high dose oral

b12 after loading when j seemed tk go downhill and' not due ' an injection.

Also as Gp wanted me to try as at that point thought dietary althoughnevef asked what i eat

It didn't help me

j just needed more injections.

So that short trial helped me get more.

The theory is you can passively absorb 1% of an oral dose if yoh have PA or an absorbtion problem.

Not enough for me

Of course great if it's dietary as yoa csn absorb the dose say if you are vegan and need to supplement .

My sister was fine for 40 years being a vegetarian. Aware of b12 .

However post menopausal got b12 deficiency symptoms. ( later realised that's what they were) Only clocked on whenthe scared thd life out of her when I collapsed.

Took high dose orsl b12 and within 2 months was well again. Such z good response.

I was hoping fof thd same.

Her b12 was tested and had gone down dramatically. She was shocked.

Same good diet ??? Better in many ways

I blame hormones and genetic disposition.

If you have a B12 absorption problem you need to take at least 1000mcg a day if using high dose oral - as other say - there is a sizeable group or people who don't find high dose oral helpful - not clear why as it does not appear to be confined to PA as a specific absorption problem.

I've found that sublingual is pretty effective. You have to use sublingual design tabs, and be sure to keep them under your tongue until they are fully dissolved.

Hi,

Some people experience a drop in potassium levels when starting B12 treatment.

BNF hydroxocobalamin

bnf.nice.org.uk/drugs/hydro...

Some forum members try to eat potassium rich foods such as bananas.

I would never take a potassium supplement unless it had been prescribed by a doctor as excess potassium can cause health issues.

Talk to your GP if you suspect low potassium. Local pharmacist may also be worth talking to.

Maybe talk to the local pharmacist?

I was not lucky with my GPs. If GP was not listening (happened often) I would put my concerns in a brief polite letter to GP as I felt this was harder to ignore.
